tarnished window edging

hi everyone, i have that plastic chrome effect trimming sitting in the rubbers below the side windows, they are tarnished and i want them to shine so what can i use?

You might want to try this. Very good for cleaning and brightening the chrome plastic trim but I am not sure how it will handle "tarnishing"

i'm sure i've read that ag rate srp on window rubbers. can't hurt but try on the chrome strips.

i have tried autosol metal polish, gave it a better shine but the tarnishing was still there, will try bigjim's ag tip.

Guys be careful of using anything too abrasive on chrome plastic as it may scratch or go cloudy.

Please note that the product in the pic is not Autosol Metal Polish.

Yes.. the shiny is under a plastic layer so any polish has to remove the plastic before it's going to brighten up the shiny.

Also some shiny is under a plastic layer because it's wafer thin and the teeniest bit of abrasion will see if come off.. so it's not even a case of you can take the plastic off and then keep polishing it (as you might when you have alloy corroding under a lacquer layer..)

All you can do is keep the plastic clean and shiny.. the light shining off it makes the trim look gleaming from an angle at least..
