Clay bar vs Scratch X

I bought the Meg's Clay Bar kit yesterday, having read how good the kit is on here but I have a few questions before I use it this Saturday.

Parking Sensors - leave well alone or treat like normal paintwork?

Light scratches - will a clay bar remove light scratches or do I have to give the car a coat of Scratch X as well?

My method will be - clay bar - AG super resin polish - AG High Definition wax. Any probs with this?

Thanks.

Clay bar will not remove scratches - it just cleans the surface so it is a completely clean and smooth surface ready for waxing and polishing etc...

No worries mate good luck with it and I hope your arms are up for it

By the way did you by the clay kit that includes the small bottle of meguiars wax? If so then use that too as its easy to apply and leaves a great finish

Don't do the whole car with scratch-x, just do the scratches (you may find the AG SRP fills most of the scratches)You should wash the car then clay it then wash it again before polishing and finally waxing.

ps no problem with treating the parking sensors as normal paintwork, just don't push on them too hard.

Re: Clay bar vs Scratch X

Yes I got the kit with the wax in as well. Thanks for the advice. Reason I ask about the parking sensors is that one of them has some crap on it and I reckon the clay bar will do the trick.

Thanks again.

Don't really rate anything from Halfords that much, get yourself on Chemical Guys or Polished Bliss websites - far more info and far cheaper.

Re: Clay bar vs Scratch X

Well, I cleaned the car this evening and tried the clay bar on a small area on the bonnet. What a result. I then used Scratch X to remove the numerous light scratches on the bonnet and have to say I'm seriously impressed. The rest of the bonnet looks rubbish now so will do whole car this weekend with a bit of luck!

Re: Clay bar vs Scratch X

Clayed the whole car today, Scratch X where required, the little pot of Meg polish you get with the clay bar (whole car) then AG HD Wax. What a fantastic result. About 4-5 hours of effort but well worth it. I was looking to get the ca sprayed but barring stone chips it's looking great so has saved my a few quid in the process!
