poo!

I've had a run in with some bird poo, and it's etched...

Basically, I normally wash the car at work when it's grubby, or when anything from above lands on it - however, day before yesterday, I lost my car keys on the forecourt and by the time I found them, was far too tired, cold and grumpy to wash what I thought was a small amount of crap from the car.

The next day the alfa garage fixed a few bits for me and washed the car, (Surprised to see it dirty!) and with the crap went the laquer - it had burnt through a fair bit of it!

I know I should've taken it off immediately, but it was only on overnight! Is a machine mop going to remove the marks, or is it a roof and bonnet paint?

Re: poo!

I'd give it a quick claying before resorting to polishing.

Re: poo!

Most bird s*** etchings only penetrate just below the surface of the clearcoat, so applying a compound to the area by machine/rotary polisher should suffice...

But as mentioned, it's wise to clay the area first to remove any superficial marks.

Re: poo!

cheers boys! In the end, I took some farecla finesse.it to it, which got rid of it, only a tiny bit of ghosting left. good enough for me!
