Re: Keeping the Shine

I guess apart from the cost of the products i hav enothing to loose by trying them.

having seen this:

** Test - Swirl Removal By Hand ** - Autopia Car Detailing Forum

makes me think SRP & elbow grease maybe the way to go

Followed by a good sealant but whish one? Jeffs? Carlack / Klasse or Meguiars Mirror Glaze #21 Synthetic Sealant seems to get good reviews.

Too much choice!

Are sealants fussy about which polishes are used prior to their application? can I use SRP and then apply carlack for example?

Re: Keeping the Shine

Carlack/Jeffs/Klasse AIO versions would remove the SRP but you could go SRP/#21 or SRP/EGP or AIO/SG.

Re: Keeping the Shine

I have never really been to impressed with EPG, maybe its moved on since I used it.

Is SRP/#21 a good combination to be using?

I have not tried this combination but I do not see why it should not give you good results

Re: Keeping the Shine

As SRP seems to do a great job of preparing the surface maybe EPG is the way to go? I cant seem to find many user reviews or recommendations of it. Any suggestions?

Am I correct in assuming SRP partly removes and partly fills / masks the swirls?

Sorry to keep on - but there seem to be too many choices!

Re: Keeping the Shine

Yes, SRP will partially hide the swirls, it also has some ability to remove swirls. It is not a true 'glaze' ie a product which is designed to hide swirls but these have the disadvantage of not lasting very long.

Re: Keeping the Shine

So if i prepare the paintwork first using two or three applications of SRP as required to remove / cover any swirling. Would applying EPG seal in this finish. If so is EPG the best product to use to seal SRP? or would Megs 21 be better (it seems well received!).

Final or... would i be better off with two or three coats of carlack 68 AIO followed by carlack 68 Seal?

In this article

** Test - Swirl Removal By Hand ** - Autopia Car Detailing Forum

SRP looks amazing but will it last? Having said that Klasse / carlack AIO come out very well as well, and the klasse / carlack seal seems very durable, which would make you think you could maintain a swirl free/reduced finish for longer before reapplication is necessary with careful washing etc...

So what you guys recommend SRP & EPG, SRP & Megs 21 or Klasse/Carlack AIO & SG?

Re: Keeping the Shine

If you can remove the swirls, or pay someone to do it, I would use Carlack. If you want to hide the swirls plus long term protection I would use SRP/EGP

There are lots more alternatives such as Zaino or Prima plus all the variations of glaze/wax but I do not think you will be disappointed with Autoglym or Carlack
