I like the ads being in the tech lounge. People often want advice on the sale etc and I like to compare prices. I hardly ever go the AO classifieds. Just thought I'd say.

Agreed, I don't like the layout of the classifieds and almost feels like a sperate bolt on to the forum.

The classifieds are there to protect members. The T&Cs form a legal contract so if someone sells something and receives payment but doesn't supply then it can be tracked if necessary.
There is a comments section in there if members want feedback.

Its not going to go back to how it was (three or four years ago I think), so maybe it's time to start visiting the classifieds.

It's a free service.

I'll have to scroll down on the main forum page, I'm not going down that far

It's be nice if when you search for new posts in the forum that the classifieds are included, but iirc they do not show in that kind of search hence the comment of a 'bolt on' to the forum. If it could be integrated into the forum better I recon it'll have more use.

Scroll down? There's a classifieds tab at the top of every forum page.

That (hardly) anyone uses.

They have been up for ages now and they are still unpopular. Waste of space.
