Money Stolen by another AO member

Hi guys,

I recently started a thread regarding my much loved Alfa 147 needing new pre cats due to failing it’s MOT on emission (http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...converter.html (Catalytic Converter)). A long-standing member of this forum PM me with details of a used set he had and arranged to send them to me.

On the 2nd June the member in question requested I send him 90 pounds by pay pal and stated the Cats would be with me by Saturday 4th June, in good faith I made a payment to him for the exact amount followed up with an email requested confirmation of the payment, which I did not receive until late afternoon of Friday 3rd June in which he said “Payment received, delivery booked I will pm you when they are collected”. By 3pm Saturday there were no sign of the cats and I had heard nothing from the member as to whether they had been collected or not, I emailed the member concerned and explained that I had not heard from him and felt I may have been duped out of 90 pounds (A fair comment I feel due to the fact I do not personally know this guy, he was not forthcoming with his emails and more importantly the Cats had not arrived!) I received the following reply at 11pm that same evening

“Hi, I find it incredulous that you are "worried that I’ve been duped out of 90 pounds!!" when you only paid for them 2 days ago I have better things to do than spend all day on AO checking for messages, the cats were collected this morning and should be with you on mon. It may have escaped you but it is Saturday and not a normal working day!

Please don't just jump to ridiculous conclusions without anything to back them up, patience is a virtue ”

I replied back stating that I did not mean to offend the guy and tried to explain my reasons for my possible conclusion and brought to his attention that it was him who told me I would have the Cats on the Saturday. I have not heard from him since and guess what the Cats have still not arrived! I have sent him numerous emails over the last 3 days, requesting information on my purchase and the name of the supposed courier that had collected the item, at least then I could chase them and get some re-assurance, but nothing. I have checked his stats and he has been logged on the site a on a number of occasions over the last 3 days so he must of received my messages.

The thing that’s bugging me is he is a long-standing member with thousands of posts and a number of friends on here, why has he done this?

My MOT retest is due tomorrow and after that I will have to pay again, I’ve also taken two days away from work to fit the new part, It would have been more cost affective to buy a new set from a repeatable company with next day delivery. The real kicker is my partner is seven months pregnant and has had to walk my 3 year old to Pre School everyday, I explained this to the guy and he’s still duped me, it’s so wrong.

I have decided to go to the police and report it as a theft if it’s not here by the close of business today; I feel I have no other choice. This is both frustrating and very upsetting for my partner and me, as we have lost over 300 pounds because of this dishonest person, and still my cars not fixed!!!

I would appreciate your thoughts!

Have you reported it to the admins here? Was the sale done because of AO? Can you not give him/her until the end of this week?

Another good reason to not do business outside of the AO classifieds.

Well wasn't expecting that, I appreciate patients and I appreciate it may take a while, in which case he could of just emailed me and explained this, problem solved!! I'm genuinly worried I have lost money due to lack of information on the members part. I'm shocked that you guys would be so one sided on your views. I have asked him for the couriers details as explained previously, however he refuses to aknowlege my request. Iv'e lost money due to the 2 days off, I was expecting the cats as promised Saturday which is when they would of been fitted, I had explained to the member that it was imperitive that I receive them by then Saturday!! I'm sorry you guys feel I'm over reacting but this has left me in a sticky situation. This is also not a malicious attack hence Iv'e not mentioned the members name, I'm justy frustrated I can't afford to be in this situation.

P>S My partner is a teacher at the school my daughter attends, hence i havn't taken her.

Yes I have reported it to AO as it was organised through this site, I'll have no choice but to wait.
