Not Happy New style AO classifieds

Is it just me that thinks the new AO classified section a step backwards?

I used to enjoy browsing the for sale and wanted ads - now I find it awkward to navigate, over complicated and well, just a bit rubbish.

Lol, you're a subtle as a half brick but as they say "shy bairns get no cake!"

Do I agree? 100%. It's not as user friendly, it's overly complicated (Tuning, Styling, Consumables and the other one). IMHO there are a lot of cross over parts or "non specific" bits and there is not enough posts to demand such segmentation and if you do want something specific just search it in the "for sale" section for example

Hmmm well at least we know where the other half brick went!!!! lol

I don't mean to critise people's hard work but I agree with Swanny

156 GTA, 155 16v and a Grand Vitara for the winter!

Alfa 156 GTA SW

I haven't looked at it, and don't have the time at the mo. Bear in mind though that 'user-friendliness' was not the absolute over-riding aim, unfortunately.
We have had increasing numbers (still low, but growing) of examples of the old system being abused, in cases to defraud our members. I believe that the major aim of the change is to allow us to track sellers and to make the transaction more secure.
(This is just what I've heard in passing though, so might be grade A rubbish!)

Alfa 156 2.5 v6

I agree with the lads above the old classifieds were far easier to use. been on tonight trying to browse parts, a very important section if you have an alfa.... find it hard to navigate through new sections. can the old headings still not be used..

It looks as though less people are using it to sell part etc, I have not bothered to put a set of wheels on there as it seems awkward , bland & uninteresting.

100% agree.

I almost started the same thread, but I have moaned enough

I said the 'no reply' rule was bad, but this is WAY WORSE.

I guess its a step in the corporate direction - power goes to peoples heads dont you know - but a foolish one IMHO.

The 'Alfa for sale' section was my first port of call each visit to AO.

TBH I will probably log in less often now as its just not the same!

In fact it is terrible.

The 'new' Classified section!

Is it just me but are there a lot less cars for sale in the 'new' Classified section than there were in the 'old' Cars For Sale section?

Yep. Thought the same. Was looking for a decent 156 SW which I am still considering buying or swapping for my very decent 147 in the New Year.

The old adverts are still available to view in the closed sections - it was not possible to transfer them over to the classifieds system so we need to wait for members to re-advertise.

What's all this about fees though to advertise? What's all that about?

Glad it's not just me

I was trying to be subtle (kinda) and really don't want to critisise peoples hard work. But I couldn't leave feedback in the "announcements and comments" forum (not a member) so thought I'd ask the here quesion instead.

I understand the need to protect members from fraudsters however, genuine sellers will get far less interest because the new forum is so awkward to browse.

edit -
I used the old classified forum to sell a set of Teledials - beautifully simple deal between two trusted forum members who both went away happy.
I've also offered (for free) some parts I'll never use again - too much hassle to do this in the new classifieds

Q2, Koni FSD's, Eibach springs, Supersprint cat-back, BMC CDA, Autodelta carbon pipe, PF pads, Braided hoses, Weichers strut brace, 18" GT alloys

I'm not a big fan either.

I've got a couple of 159 bits I'd happily give away but I don't know if anyone will see them there. It doesn't appear to be very user friendly.

So if anyone wants a passenger side wing mirror glass or a pair of Titanio grey wing mirror covers let me know, you can have them for the postage.

Don't like it at all. The old section was much easier to use, much more friendly and in line with the spirit of AO.

The new section just smacks of 'ebay commercialism'.

I have several Alfa items to sell (including some nice alloys) but will not be using this new sellers section at all thanks.

So NIL POINTS to the folks who put this pile of rubbish together

If you don't know, why don't you create a listing with a 0 price and try?

Alfa 147 2.0 TS

As someone who has bought stuff quite recently via the "old" classified section (and was very satisfied with the transactions), I would agree that the new section is way over complicated. The lack of posts on it would suggest this is a general view. Before owning my 147, I was a Golf Mk4 owner and having "swapped sides" from the VW ukmkiv forum to this one, I have always been amazed at how little the classified section was used in comparison. I appreciate that there probably aren't as many Alfa owners and thus cars/parts etc but where do most forum members put their stuff up for sale and why ?? The Bay????

Fair point. I started but lost interest.

I'll get round to it some time.

How mature.

Sorry to hear that you don't like the 'pile of rubbish'. Maybe you should go and create your own combined auction/classifieds website and then we'll all come to you to sell our items when you're done.
