Yeh, I getcha!

True, the tooltip can give you a good jist, but I guess this new things saves you opening less interesting threads.

It helps in search results mainly as you dont have to navigate away from the results page to see if this is something you want to read, it also reduced server loads as it doesnt have to keep loading big long pages to find out its not what the member was looking for.

The biggest win will be for those with mobiles that can use java/ajax as they no longer have to download the entire thread data on 3G/GPRS to find its not what they wanted!
