Ao pager - CLOSED

I do remember reading that AO pager was being taken away, but I'm sure it was to be replaced by some sort of IRC thingy.

The thing is, I can't find a way to send pagers, but I also can't find this replacement. What's going on? Has the IRC not yet been implemented? I'm hoping it is going to be some sort of AO internal system. If it just links in to MSN or something, I won't be able to use it.

Oh right ! I found it now.

Underneath the username of the person there is a ‘send message’ option, it pulls down a drop box and you then click on ‘send instant message to username’.

You used to be able to click their name in a thread, and it was one of the options on the menu which came up.

OK, Marko has just shown me that they do still exist. I'm not seeing obvious links to send a pager against usernames though, as used to be the case. Not so important, the quick links system is fine for me.

The method Baby has described doesn't seem to exist for me. Is it only active on certain forum skins?

That option appears in light grey skin as well. Good spot there BORED. You do have your uses.

AO Modern, AO Classic (When it released) and AO Grey all are now carbon copy styles except the colours and graphics may vary to suit.

The wau to send a pager is by either going to the button on every thread as pointed out above, going to someones profile by clicking on their name and selecting "Send Message" from under their user name.

The other way to send an Instant Message (They are not called pagers ) is to use your quick links menu and select "Send Instant Message" this will then bring up a list of people that are online and you select using a tick box who you wish to send the message to. You can also just allow messages to be sent to and from people on your friends list by enabling this within your profile.

Hope this helps.

Ian

PS: For those that cannot send a message, it is likely you have not yet signed up to the AO club.

Within your User Control Panel, you can change the way AO works:
For example, to change the number of posts per page, go to Edit Options and scroll down to 'Thread Display Options'. In the section 'Number of Posts to Show Per Page' select a desired amount.
