It was a joke reply, check the duplicate's username... unless this was a joke reply too?

Re: Duplicate accounts and traders - Beware

I'm with the name and shame policy on this. whilst the majority of members will make recommendations based on their experiences and service levels received there will always be a few rogue posters who are looking to make a gain in an underhand way.

while you can follow the IP address trail and see if it leads back to the same premises or same computer. if they post from one account as a trader from work and set up another account which they only use from home as a supposed user of " x companies" services then i guess it would be difficult to spot or to prove.

sometimes its the content of the post that raises the suspicion in the first place. i know i have had doubts about certain posters before but if there is no obvious proof then they must be given the benefit of doubt.

I never trust a new member who has a recommendation as their first and only post anyway.

Good job, I would also like to say name and shame, and I think by given them a chance to prove their innocents before information is posted within an allotted time frame is admirable and would protect AO from any possible come back (if there was any in the first place)

Sorry Ned, when reading this I was thinking of yourselves, but purely because I have not seen any sign of this dishonesty as of yet, reading some of the older threads I know you have your suspicions of underhanded comments about your company.

Glad to hear (although not yet confirmed ) this does not involve you

Yup, it's not the first thing you'd post.
Why do people think we are that gullible ?

Re: Duplicate accounts and traders - Beware

Why not have a thread/page where you can rate the service you have received, there are loads of hotel rating sites and ebay has a feedback section, that way there should be less need for posts like that and a place to put a comment (I'd suggest from a fixed list!!) if you are pleased/displeased etc

I think that sort of voting system may actually encourage people to create additional fake accounts and vote for their company/employer.
