Yep imagine the Havoc loads of Alfa's on that road through the trough would cause

If you soft southerners look at a map of the country, you may be surprised to find that London is actually right in the bottom corner, not in the middle!

What about Rockingham Raceway in Northants?

There are various events in September including a trackday.

I have been to races there - it is fantastic - very family orientated with all sorts of events going on between races - one make displays, drifting displays - even a spitfire flying display when I was last there.. The car park holds thousands. There are stalls, food and things to amuse kids.

If you don't like kids you can just watch the racing, visit the pits, have a picnic or whatever.

In fact I think I'll suggest it for the next East Anglian meet anyway.

Paul.

I have to agree with Paul Rockingham is a great circuit. I have been there for a few events.

I was racing there a couple years age in my 650 BHP Camaro, there was a rolling start and I was in pole position and when I came into the first corner (hair pin) my break pedal snapped clean in half, that was interesting.

I bought my Alfa for the pleasure of driving it - not to admire it and others in the middle of a damp field (Sorry Aussie/Kiwi bias there).
It'd be cool if the event was in the middle of region with great driving roads - more fun to meet up on the road, and then catch up for a chat later at the venue.
Cheers Glenn

That is more something for the regional meetings where it is practical to have a few cars meeting up for a drive around. If Ian is planning on this being a National event though with the hope of quite a few members and other Alfa owners/enthusiasts coming along it could be a bit difficult for hundreds of cars to meet up on the road and drive around together.

That is one reason why I dont have a problem with where the event is to be held as I personally like meeting up with a few other people for a nice drive down the day before (if stopping over) and then having a meal and a few drinks in the evening. Then everyone can drive to the event together the next morning

Hey Jason,
Good point! After the wide open roads of "Down Under" I just get a bit wary of going near major population centres. The roads are boring and crowded! That's not quite the motoring challenges I'm after
Cheers Glenn

Re: Alfa Romeo Event - Location?? - Serious replies only

Hi All

We are based in what I think is a very central location which is also very near Luton air port for the overseas members.

We have the capacity to have 250 - 300 car meet here.

We sell lots of new Alfa Romeos.

I am offering to open my door to Alfa Owner and hold your first meeting at our premises.

I know there has been a lot of negative stuff written on this site about us in the past, this would give every one the opportunity to see what we are all about

the offer sounds fine

but I am going to be annoying

central/near luton?????????????????

is this because we're counting the Loire region as part of our catchment area?

I am with ghosty and Bazza, if there is things for the kids to do fantastic. They can wander round zoo or theme park I can do my thing.
Wandering round a car park for three hours for them and Mrs Mickeybee is a no no.

...but isn't NAD up North somewhere??? (and my definition of North is anything North of London ).

If so it would only be fair that we have a major Alfa event 'down South'

Be fair Kev. I can't make it to NAD (on holiday that week ) and you know that I'm half for the big attraction now. Gibbo and I are going to have our own stand

Idea Re: Alfa Romeo Event - Location?? - Serious replies only

Could a meeting like this ever turn into a world record for the most Alfas in one place at one time? How about the NEC in Birmingham? you'd be surrounded by planes, trains and automobiles aswell as being well connected to M6,M5,M42 & M40.....

Re: Alfa Romeo Event - Location?? - Serious replies only

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but why not piggy back off the Autoitalia summer Italian Car day at Stanford Hall near Lutterworth in the Midlands. Centre of the Country so everyone's happy. Date is 19th August. If AO is to organise a venue, won't insurance be needed as AROC does when it organised events?

@Autolusso - Ned. Sorry but SAD was MUCH more more than just sharing a field & there was absolutely loads for kids to explore & do
