Mobile phone video clips

How about enabling short (100K?)
video clips from mobiles to be uploaded?
(e.g. .3gp format)

Re: Mobile phone video clips

Was behind a Ferrari yesterday (for
about 20s ) and there's a lot of exotic hardware
around in the summer.

So if there was somewhere to post it on here
I might try and capture some.

I still think that those forward looking
"blackbox" video cameras some insurance co.s have
installed in cars (in the US would) actually make quite
good "toys".

Re: Mobile phone video clips

I personally don't see the point? USe streetfire or utube, don't need to reinvent the wheel and add cost to AO unneccessarily.

AO already has the video lounge which integrates with off site video hosting - that seems fine to me.

Re: Mobile phone video clips

You have to pay to upload 3gp vids to youtube via
mms, otherwise you have to go through all the rigmarole
of converting it to (eg) AVI.

A slight derail, but many yesterdays ago I saw a device on Tomorrow's World that basically a digital video camera built into a rear view mirror. It had one lens pointing forward and one back. It was on constant loop and when an impact sensor was triggered, it would store something like 30 seconds of video before and after the incident.

Easy to install and useful for protecting your insurance premiums with things like hit and run car parking scraps, the current "epidemic" in staged accident scams, fictitious passengers with whiplash, etc.

It did it ever get produced?

(on the toy front: add a button on the side and if something popped up infront of you, press a button on the side and it would save the previous 30 seconds video)

Exactly what they have started using in the US.
Even with the "save button" function
you describe.

Normally I'm quite anti CCT, but I wouldn't
mind this. Great toy!

Re: Mobile phone video clips

I wonder if such video would be admissible in court. If so, with it's pre-record facility, you could report some the worst examples of dangerous driving that we all come across. Might help make up for the lack of traffic police these days if it was a common fitment....or is this all a bit vigilante?

Re: Mobile phone video clips

tbh i would be very miffed if i saw someone with a camera on their car to record my driving, theres enough speed cameras on the road as it is, never mind joe bloggs deciding to start recording ppl and reporting them to the police, would be good for security reasons and if you were involved in a crash to back your side of the story up in the absence of witnesses but defo not cool to just spy on other drivers and report them to the police for driving offences imo adn could seriously backfire on you if you did start leaving in videos of your journeys to traffic police

2.0 TS, custom hand stitched leather and alacantra interior, custom SS system, H+R suspension upgrade

Re: Mobile phone video clips

Whilst it sounds like a great idea there's bound to be a way to edit the digital footage and also some morons who would start "baiting" drivers to get their reactions on camera for the like of Myspace
