Im with you on that one! If we can't have a slight dig at Yanks, I can live with that. But god help them if there are any Jazz Ballet dancers in here, I hate Jazz Ballet.

LOL, if the fact that was a joke was not picked up!

Jazz ballet is a very interesting combination of art and sport. I wouldn't make fun of it nor take it lightly

What about the Romans?
Other than the roads the aqua duct and sanitation, what have the Romans done for us lately?

Re: Polite notice - Please stop, you know who you are!

this is the worst thread ive read on here, truly dull imo

i really dont like american foreign policy but i dont think that american citezens have any say in what happens in their country anyway cause just like here their vote means nothing, every politican is a carbon copy of another and they are all bought and paid for by someone with an agenda. if they didnt have the backing of interested parties you wouldnt know their names never mind vote for them.

You went to Florida, and managed to only meet one American?

Did you sit in a sealed room?

This thread's all over the place now and a fair bit of irony missed. And I always thought it was the Americans who didn't do irony

I was born in South London, suburbs, worked at the effluent - Sorry Elephant for many years. My daughter lived in Deptford - rough - but a great community once they recognised you.
I have to say that London, though the capital of our country, is more of a foreign land to me than the US. When I visit the US I can meet Americans, when I visit London all I every meet are foreigners!

Never been to California or Texas or New York then??

Makes London an interesting place imho. Try speaking to one of the "foreigners" ....nice people, you might quite like them...

Re: Polite notice - Please stop, you know who you are!

Lived outside London for a year and worked in the City. London's a great place to visit but a very lonely place to work. Everyone seems suspicious of everybody else and I found the whole experience quite intimidating.

Re: Polite notice - Please stop, you know who you are!

I lived in London from age 18 to 24. I loved every minute of it. I think I was the right age to take advantage of it. I worked in North London for 10 years.

I'm not sure I'd want to go back and live there now but I'm still very fond of the place and like to visit as often as possible.

And I love Londoners although they can take a little time to get to know.

I am down a lot and I think London is great, and I not only talk to the foreigners but work with them as our Head Office is mainly staffed by them. I just think it is a shame that they seem, though they probably aren't, to be the majority population of the capital.

Re: Polite notice - Please stop, you know who you are!

The impression that London has an uneven balance of foreign people could well have been caused by TV in their efforts to be PC and choose what they think represents a cross section. For example in one article they might talk to Afro origin, an Asian etc. and a Brit. Its definitely how it comes across to me.

I was 22-23. everyone I worked with was great and we had some superb nights out, but we all lived over a huge radius around London so everything had to be planned in detail. Impromptu meets and socialising just wasn't on the menu. And London on your own is a horrible place.

Re: Polite notice - Please stop, you know who you are!

Ah, I lived in a shared house in Wood Green. 8 of us sharing. The house next door was made up of 8 bedsits too. We had a whale of a time, socialising almost every night. My beer gut found it's origins in North London pubs

But I agree with you that it has the potential for being a very lonely place It really is what you make of it though.

And there was me thinking that "Cosmopolitan" was either a type of ice cream, or a lady's magazine read by men for the naughty bits.

I don't get your comment!
But my Monti Python comment just demonstrates how stupid this thread is. If anyone is abusive to others no matter who they are or where they are from, they should be booted. And Im not talking about ribbing some one or just taking the ****. And lets be logical about this, Americans are the most visible troublemaking country in the world. The price for this modern Empire building is a cultural backlash from everyone else. So I say they should get a thicker skin.
I think this on the most part is a fairly tolerant and educated web site.
And there are no real American haters here.

Accept "Achmale 147" is probably hates them!

That's a relief, it seemed to have sunk like a stone. Probably deservedly so.
