attatchments help

Hi, I have been a member for a good few months now, but have never posted any attatchments with my posts or uploaded photo`s.

Yesterday, i tried, but was unsucessful, kept saying max file size was 100kb, and my photo`s were 460kb, cant compress them and 100kb seems very small, other peoples photo1s are more, a lot more than 100kb, so what am i doing wrong?
Please can you help me.

Many thanks

Re: attatchments help

100kb is the limit you can upload.

maybe the larger photos you saw were linked from another site?

i rarely upload photo's to here but link them from www.photobucket.com

try it from there mate

when you upload a pic you get three links to choose from
copy the url of the pic and press the picture tab at the top of the post message box on alfaowner, you will get a small pop up and paste the link in there, when you post your post the pic will show up

hope that helps

Most of my pic links are from the web, so I'd say having another one or two more would be great

Plenty of advice already, but if you actually want to make your photos a smaller file size, what you need to do is resize them. The jpg is a variable compression, but if you resized to about half (height and width) even using the software that came with the camera, you could save as .jpg which would result in about 100KB. When saving alter the name so that you don't overwrite the original.

Attachments are fine, I just tried them all, unless you can tell me different, I will assume all is now working.

What type of file are you trying to upload? Perhaps it's not on the list of extensions that the system can process.

Or if you're uploading from a URL, it may be somehow protected?

Give us more details, and we can try to figure this out with you

Re: attatchments help

Ian posting as Pascs

All done Pascs, I have had to re-create your account from scratch and then move all your info accross to a new user id, however, you have all your posts, attachments, pm's etc.. the only change for you should be your userid number but that only affects your referrer link if applicable.

Happy days

Ian
