Good Alfa Dealers/ Poor Alfa Dealers

I apologise if there is an existing thread.

I have owned an Alfa for just one month and before parting with my hard earned cash I looked at all aspects of Alfa ownership and one of the over-riding negatives seemed to be Alfa Dealers!

I think we as Alfa owners should give credit where it is due and likewise if you have recieved poor service then others should know who to go to and who to avoid.

With this in mind I should like to thoroughly recommend Blades at Cheltenham. They carried out exactly what I wanted, when I wanted it and there was no "sorry we didn't get around to it" or "we'll have to let you know", stuff like that! If Cheltenham is convenient to you try Blades.

Happy driving

funny thing that
I walked into Blade alfa in cheltenham and the big gobby salesman ignored myself and my wife, after 15 minutes we left taking our cash with us
he was too busy boasting about how he had kept a deposit on a customers car who could not afford it now due to job change and then selling it on to some one else
he walked past me and into the harley showroom next door and was still gobbing off to the harley salesman about how much commision he had made
I spoke to the young lady on reception and she let him know but he still ignored me
we walked outside if he had any manners he would have sent one of the other staff out to open up a car let me sit in it and keep me there, especially as I had told him I was coming down
maybe it was due to the fact I arrived in a Skoda!
i had 10 grand in cash ready to buy a car and ended up walking out and no one came and said anything or apologized
if thats the way they treat a potential customer who had already rung and made an appointment then hwo would they treat you when a problem occurs?
no I would not go into the place again
good manners cost nothing
and good breeding shows
a nice suit does not disguise an ignorant yob
and discussing a customers misfortune out loud and using his name in front of other members of the public is crass and poor management

Terrible service although I have a friend who had that sort of treatment when he went to buy a number of vans from his usual Renault dealer for his business. However he did go back in one of his new VW vans he bought and explained why they won't get any more business. The salesperson apparently was asked to leave the next week as they sent a letter to apologise. However on a positive note I received excellent service from Alfa shop in Norwich. They really have helped me out, and squeezed my car in so I can take it to France in 2 weeks as there was an idle issue after a new engine I had fitted. I am so glad I didn't start mucking about with the idle on my selespeed as these guys are the only ones who would even look at it, and they had a bit of a task. Local dealers wouldn't touch it as it isn't under 3 years old and according to ***** Shop they are the only places that supply the dealers. Lots of stock on shelf both common and uncommon and if you have a selespeed I would recommend them wholeheartedly. The good news is the diagnostic, labour and new lambda sensor and something about a clutch rod thing wasn't long enough only came to 211 pounds. (I left with my shirt on my back)

that makes a change
I did find a place in Bristol called ***** net, their mechanic looked at my car for me in an attempt to fix the problems that were unresolved by the muppets at a certain specialist in south glos
he sorted the suspension rattle that the manager and salesman were unable to detect (like a dustbin full of bricks in the boot)
the faulty wiring to the number plate light
and he even fitted a new coil unit to cure the misfire that had been present from collection ( i thought they all sounded like that)
trouble is it showed the crankshaft was knackered and the service history was fake
I could not reccomend Duncan enough a skilled alfa and maserati technician who really does know his job
just a pity I did not know of him before it would have saved me much wasted money
my car is still stuck at his place, well actually dumped there and he is so nice about it considering its nothing to do with him
the next alfa I buy will go direct to him for service
his phone number is 07968 488942 and he is based in bristol north just off the M32
sound chap

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend

Northants Alfa
1-5 Stewarts Rd
Finedon Road Industrial Estate
Wellingborough
NN8 4RJ
Tel: 10933 275184
Northants Alfa Romeo

Mark & Gem are BRILLIANT

Sorry to Jason at Donalds-he has been VERY helpful in the parts dept BUT I wouldNOT touch Donalds otherwise-they have NO idea and their prices extortionate; I'd rather drive the 30 miles to Wellingborough!

I can support the recommend by Jillyflower for Northants Alfa. Great service, don't tell you work needs doing if it doesn't, courtesy Alfa, not just saying that because they are only a mile away, travel 180 mile round trip for bike service

I would also support these comments as they have been incredibly helpful in allowing me to store cars and do work on them for my Sprint 6C project.. They also did servicing on our 156.

I've had issues with my Alfa recently, but I have to admit, she's turned ten, and when I bought her three years ago all her parts were genuine originals at over 90,000miles. I count myslef quite lucky still, nothing near as much has gone wrong that could go wrong. just the much used clutch, starter motor, gear box.

I recommend my hubby who does all my work (lol) and Alfa Workshop/Jamie Porter. He's lovely, (as is his partner, whose name has suddenly deserted me) and very helpful. I went there to pick up a radiator and was there for Ages just chatting about my then upcoming holiday, a drive through europe, and how they were planning to redecorate (with Alfa 75's, how cool!) and they had lots of advise and no pushy salesmanship. Even had some advise for me to give my hubs on fitting the radiator, and starting a business. Awesome, awesome guys.

Do not use clovertech in dagenham

Hi DO NOT USE CLOVERTECH. I had my Alfa 147 serviced twice there and they failed to change the timing belt at the right time; it then broke and caused 2000 worth of damage. Despite a court awarding my claim, Clovertech still refuse to pay.

A reliable indie is always a safe bet, at half the price, Used Cloverleaf in Gloucester for the past 25 years. They have all the kit a do a first rate job, with no hidden extras. Loads of spare parts available, same day repair.

Its just as bad over here in Ireland. Some dealers should be shot!I've dealt with a few but always go back to the same one,Lee Garage in South Terrace Cork. They are not anyway pushy when it comes to sales or service.Every time I put my car in, the same mechanic takes it so I know its in good hands. He does whats needed and doesnt try to screw you like others............GRANDONS!!!!!!!!!!!

There would appear to be a few Gloucestershire users on this forum. It would be nice to meet up for an informal get together. Just choose a pub with a good car park and talk ALFA,s..Anybody know CALCOT MANOR on the A46, about 7 miles south of STROUD. Good beer and top food, outside tables if you wish, right next to the car park.

Thumbs Up

Hi All,

If you live in or around Hertfordshire try Alfa Workshop in Royston.
Before I purchased my first 156, I did speak with them about what I should look for and the cost of servicing/Cambelt etc. They had an aerea on there web site with all the prices stated.

After buying the 156, I booked it in for the Cambelt to be done along with the Thermostat + fluids. It did need a new wiper motor which they called me first with a price before going ahead with the work.

Over all I am very happy with what was carried out along with the cost which was clearly stated before I picked it up, and they even cleaned it and provided a courtesy car as well.

So if if you need it serviced check them out

Iain

Morning,
I am a newbie here as you can see I wanted to start a new Thread (obviously i can't) about Alfa Romeo PDI centre (in UK) shutting down. My topic is connected to the Alfa Dealership in UK. It's a long story and I just wanted to know what would be the best place to post all this long information. Can i have some guidance please?
Thanks!
