Has AO changed?

In the last couple of days? Something to do with the coding of the page? When I open a page in a new tab, it loads up, when I click on the tab to view the page it immediatly changes, the text seems to shrink a little and maybe to a different font, and the buttons look different.. Is there some software on AO that detects I am using a mini laptop with a 1024x600 screen and so automatically shrinks the text so more of it fits the screen?

I am liking the new font though, can read much more without having to scroll as much

Re: Has AO changed?

When something changes locally/your end, its usually going to be your own PC/MAC, we rarely make changes without announcing them, unless they don't effect the end user of course. Looks like your mini PC received an update of some sort.

Re: Has AO changed?

Pud, I know what your talking about and here's the explanation.

I too am using a Ultra portable PC a HP 2133 to be precise and because of it's relatively poor power I believe that what you are seeing is the page being loaded up then the browser is applying CSS to the page.

CSS or Cascading Style Sheets allow the abstraction of presentation from content. By changing an element of CSS you change the way data is presented across the entire site or subsite.

AO seems to use inline CSS you can view this by viewing the source of this page.

When you browse a website you aren't actually viewing anything 'online' your browser requests the information then downloads it locally, the page that is displayed is then rendered in your browser using the downloaded information.

Dependent on your browser CSS should be rendered as the page loads, however this depends on whether CSS is referenced inline or via an external style sheet and sometimes latency can cause problems when referencing the external CSS.

In your case I put it down to slow browser rendering.

Re: Has AO changed?

Cheers Ghosty, I think you've got it in one there. I normally have about thirty tabs open at once in Firefox
