How To Section

I would like to suggest to AO About a How To section in the forum.

I have noticed a few very good how to guides that forum members have taken hours to prepare that has some very good info and it just disappears in the masses of threads that are posted daily.

I have a couple of how to guides to post and has taken ages to prepare all the images and text and by next week it will disappear like all the others.

Not only is it a benefit for users to have the how to section but it will keep the forum nice and tidy

Re: How To Section

Yes but that is 1 section and it would be good to have a bit that covers topics that would relate to all vehicles aswell, something like how to respray panels etc etc.

Sounds good to me. I might even be tempted to break out the camera along with the spanners.

We are absolutely full of suggestions on this forum.

A bit light on the action front, though.

Me and Hammy removed a velour interior and replaced it with leather. He made an entire thread about it, with pictures etc, brilliant thread, and I've had to go find it for people on about 5 separate occasions because it's not easy to find. There SHOULD be a HOW TO section,

Re: How To Section

The really sad thing is; we used to have one of these, all custom made for our purposes BUT (there's always a but) just before we got to launch it, we lost it in a server move

This will always come up everytime Ian and me have a meeting (it really does) and we both know that this site desperately needs this.

What we need is a section (similar to the gallery) where each submitted 'how to' can be 'approved' and made 'live' rather than members submitting text and images to a member of staff to compile.

So the bottom line is, we need to build this (and quite a few other things) but we're snowed under at the moment. However, until we get round to this, please keep posting 'how to' threads (with pics) as we ALL benefit from, and really appreciate, the time and effort you guys put in to these and hopefully in the near future we'll be launching exactly what you want

Re: How To Section

Thats great mr jeff, good of you to explain.

Would it be possible (for the time being until how to section is approved) to have the same as the 147/156 thread and have a sticky how to in all of the technical groups.

A few good ones have recently been posted in the 146 section and are now starting to disappear.

Re: How To Section

There is a good how to section on FCCUK (Fiat coupe forum)

Something like that for Alfa's would be excellent.

No, I'm not. There's two easy ways to tell... My spelling and grammar are better than Ian's... sometimes

Re: How To Section

Knew that would get you... 8 and a bit years ago Ian created my account for me (I was busy coding some site stuff) and spelt my name wrong (he always does, given up correcting him) and I thought "I'll leave that as it is so it confuses members at a later date"
