If it's any consolation, I got a warning for "abusing" the swear filter and the very word in question was actually picked up from this Forum!

Where's the "consistency" there?

Disagree.

It's "modded" too tightly and the "modding" is often inconsistent.

Just my opinion. And experience.

Re: Topic Locked

If there are clear forum rules, and you sign up and agree to them, and break them please don't whinge when action is taken to enforce those rules.

As a user, one simple thing to expect is consistent moderating and appliance of the forum rules. Although that is tougher than you think, mainly due to interpretation or misunderstandings of the rules, and sometimes people are smart enough to get around loopholes in the rules. When they do, respect their cunning, and adapt and learn from that mistake.
As a moderator one should ensure that the rules have been broken, if unsure check with another Mod. There is nothing worse than a knee jerk reaction. Also, it is helpful if the Mod actually speaks in private with the person, and discusses their concerns. Much better than venting ones feelings all over the forum it is often the person has not realised what they have done.

Also, letís not forget moderators are people, with feelings that take time to ensure the site is run effectively. And, at the end of the day, if someone wishes to make someone welcome, and repeatedly then let him or her. Some people are like that, warm and welcoming. My welcome posts made me stay. I might have never come back, because I might have felt this is a bit like a clique. That was a month ago to the day, and likely not far off the actual hour!!

Letís face it nobody likes being moderated. But if you are, then face the facts, youíve been naughty, got caught. Pay the price with some dignity.

(Can you tell Iíve been a moderator? )

Oh, and freedom of speech is a myth. Try speaking your mind long enough, and someone will tell you to jog on, or get yourself arrested.

Re: Topic Locked

Overall synopsis, not that I'm a particularly 'Time Served' authority on the subject, but the mods do a pretty fair job. Sometimes it's so very difficult to understand some of these posters, that are muddled, and be-fuddled, and sort of loopy twisters? Not that I know of a single instance that fits that category, you understand??

Well said. Cosistency is the key word, which is not always applied - as I pointed out and to answer your question - yes, I think everyone can.

Re: Topic Locked

Seeing as this is a Forum, surely someone can post equally eloquently on something they either like or dislike?

Either way, what the guy said is actually correct about modding. IMO, I hasten to add.

Positive - seeing as you keep posting and that's not what you originally stated, but I'm sure it'll be locked sooner or later.

Re: Topic Locked

Yes, I've heard of jokes - I even laugh at ones I find funny!

Careful, you'll get "moderated" for wandering too far off topic....

Re: Topic Locked

Mods are generally hands off and don't go looking for trouble so if you get moderated, it's usually because you've gotten up a person's (or people's) nose enough to get a post reported. Even then, depending on the severity, any "action" is usually discussed amongst the team. Warnings are usually given first anyway
