GT Car-jacked!

hello everyone

when i got back from the gym last night at about 8.30pm, i was unlocking the front door to my house when i heard someone running. i spun around and was confronted by 2 blokes wearing balaclavas, one sporting some kind of bat ...not the flying sort either! scuffled past the first one but didn't fancy my chances with the other. dropped the keys and legged it. one beautifully cared for GT and one smelly gym bag missing. incurred a few bruises but nothing to worry about. coppers reckon they may have followed me from the gym. bit shook up and very gutted about car. least it had no fuel in it and the cambelt needs changing soon ...FYI

the car usually attracts attention for all the right reasons ...and now i'm going to

Re: GT Car-jacked!

Jeeeze - glad you are OK and sorry to hear about the GT. I bet it took a long time to get your heart rate back after that. Sounds like you did the right thing by scarpering - good luck with the recovery.

Re: GT Car-jacked!

Bloody Hell, Scary Stuff. You did the right thing tho mate, drop the keys and leg it unless you are very confident of your abilities.

One of the girls at my office had same thing happen the came for her company Golf GTI recently. Ended up with a broken nose. She got the car back tho, after it had been used for an armed robbery .

It was returned covered in fingerprint powder, which is a right pain on the **** to remove!!

Re: GT Car-jacked!

A terrible experience but I think you did the right thing in legging it, confronting them could have turned out much worse.

Hope you get the car back in decent nick and that the experience doesn't haunt you, must take a while to get over something like this.

Re: GT Car-jacked!

Sorry to hear about the car - not nice and I hope the plod squad do actually get of their butts and catch them.

The main thing is that you are ok and will at least be able to replace the car.

Seems to me as if it was possibly stolen to order though

Second time I've heard of this happening in Manchester in the last year or so.

Really sorry to hear this - must be terrible it happening right outside your own home.

Re: GT Car-jacked!

Glad you got away relatively unscathed.
It's a sad fact, but that's why we pay (so much) for insurance.

Re: GT Car-jacked!

What on earth is this world coming to? You must live in a rough area. At least try to see the funny side of it, imagine them using it for a bank robbery and as they pull away to escape the cambelt snaps. Glad to hear your ok, you did the right think changing the locks and running btw.

No point being a hero unless of course you have a gun then you should have capped them in the knees dragged them down to your shed and practiced being a surgeon with some power tools...

Re: GT Car-jacked!

blimey t3yls that's scary. glad to hear you're ok though - that's the main thing. whereabouts in manchester are you?

there was a spate of these where i live about 3/4 years ago. 2 people i personally know were targeted - one had his saab 9-3 aero taken (used in an armed robbery the day after, but returned to him with only minor damage) and the other had her impreza sti taken, never to be seen again
