i'm assuming you'll now need new locks/keys/immobiliser etc as the thieving scrotes still have your keys?

One of our cricket team up near you Al had his 5-series jacked about 3 years ago too, just as you were saying. Heard of a lot then it seemed to go quiet again.

Not a bad area really though. I think even the very best neighbourhoods are only a mile or two from the scumbags these days

Thanks for all your kind comments, really appreciate it.
Glad you got it back. I hope the trauma of it passes. It's easy for the rest of us to underestimate how frightening that could be.

Re: GT Car-jacked!

Glad they found it.

But why go to the trouble of following you, threatening you and taking the car only to leave it parked in a car park???

WTF is the point in that???

Re: GT Car-jacked!

In case it's got a tracker I guess. Leave it in the corner of a car parl for a couple of days and see if it gets recovered.

The fact that the police managed to find it (presumably) without a tracker will I guess lead the crims to assume it did have one, so hopefully will lead to them keeping away in future.

yeah these incidents were about 3/4 years ago. didn't hear about the 5 series but the saab 9-3 belonged to dean who had the office next door to mine up there, the impreza sti belonged to a certain nurse i'm acquainted with - both very scary armed robberies from home starting with a sledgehammer through the front door down the road from dean a mondeo st220 went in a similar fashion, and another impreza went from a guy who was followed home from the nailers green pub to his driveway in holcombe brook. thankfully i haven't heard of any since apart from the bloke who was accidentally shot in the leg in greenmount during a bungled carjacking at his house this summer, all of 400 yards from my house

and what bazza said is right - a guy i used to work with had his 5-series stolen, and the next day it was found tidily parked in a nice leafy suburban street, the police told him the thieves always park it up somewhere inconspicuous for a few days in case it has a tracker. if its still there after a few days then back they go with the keys and do whatever it is they do with stolen cars

- Keepin' it moist -

A little canister of mustard gas under the seat, in a reinforced bottle, that can be operated by remote

Worst thing I've heard of used in South Africa is a springloaded metal pole that breaks ankles if you get too close...

Re: GT Car-jacked!

I never knew this sort of thing happened in the UK, I mean I live in South Africa, so one in theory should expect something like that.

But crooks hardly ever want Alfa's. So WTF. Does this sort of thing happen alot?
