Closing my thread

Was it really nessesary to close it after 2 replies / 30 mins ?

I was only going to thank you for explaining it.

I keep getting the feeling that space on the server hosting this forum is rather limited. Would that feeling be correct ?

Re: Closing my thread

You could just have sent a PM to both people . .. the thing is this sort of thread comes up time and time again, however when you view the for sale lounges there is a sticky thread at the top explaining why no reply's are allowed ... so it's all there already ...

Re: Closing my thread

Thanks for replying

I did read the sticky before i posted. It just didnt seem to explain the decision. Perhaps i was looking for a bit more of a discussion in my previous thread !

I understand why you made it, and i guess there were discussions about it at the time. However, all the 'for sale' areas on boards i frequent, alow replies. The general concensus seems to be that keeping everything in the open untill a sale is agreed is much better - See sticky from one of them below:

Quote:
Quote: "Buyers: DO NOT REPLY SAYING "YOU HAVE PM". Please communicate with sellers within the topic and not via PM until a sale is agreed. Only personal details should be exchanged via PM once the sale is closed. This is to give visibility to other members of the forum to whether the item is still available.

If you post an asking price, you have to take any offers made at that price. "
They have members breaking cars and a steady flow of posts asking is such and such is available. As it comes up and gets sold there is record. This means the parts come up in searches, the seller doesnt have to reply to the same questions via pm all the time, etc.

I think all forums will get the odd issue with people discussing the quality of individual parts and sellers. Was it really bad enough to warrent the removal of replies ?

Re: Closing my thread

Ok, i just found the most recent thread dealing with this subject. Seems as though the majority of users want replies. The mods dont.

Put the snax away lads, no point in flogging this horse again. You can close this thread now !
