Thumbs Up 156 V6 with LPG - an absolute bargain! *SOLD*

If you ever wanted a 156 V6 but thought you couldn't afford it, this is the car for you!

With great sadness I must sell my beloved '98 156 V6. It has been used for company work but is now to old for them to insure and I have to start again with a newer car. Those of you who know me for the 6-7 years I have been posting here know how lovely my car has been.

Alfa Red (of course).
Wooden steering wheel and console, charcoal black cloth seats (so much more comfy than leather) with the Alfa logo embroidered in red. Black dials with orange glow.
Low style rear spoiler.
16" alloys with as-new Contisport2 tyres on front, nearly new Toyo Proxes on the rear - tons of tread left.
Supersprint SS exhaust, CSC centre section, GTA intake pipe with K&N filter (recently cleaned) - sounds fantastic!
Nitrac grooved disks all round with front Ferodo 2500 performance pads and Ferodo 2000 performance pads on rear, tons of wear left - they really stop you well. Braided brake hoses of course.
Clutch changed recently and all worn suspension arms and bushes replaced with genuine Alfa. No squeaks or rattles.
Koni adjustable shocks and Autodelta sport/comfort springs for a smooth ride that tightens up firmly in the corners, 25mm lowered so the car looks neat and well settled, not too low for the speed bumps.
Momo front strut brace.
Clear indicator repeaters.

Anything else? Um.. taxed until end Feb, MOT just over 10 months (went straight through the test with no work required). Very recent 60K service (oil/spark plugs/etc). Next service in 11K miles for oil and filter. Next cam-belt change in 35K miles.

Sounds nice but you can't afford the petrol? No worries as the car has a 2nd generation multipoint Italian LPG system fitted (fitting certificate from dealer in Nth Yorkshire). Maintenance free and dirt cheap LPG Switches from LPG to petrol and back at the press of a button or leave on automatic for LPG use all the time. Diesel running costs on a V6 - brilliant. It is great for the engine too, causing less wear and less pollution. Engine oil stays honey golden all the time.

Why so cheap? In one word, mileage at a current 235K. It is high but the car has been a real work-horse and spent it's whole life doing motorway miles, cruising up and down the A1, M1 M6 and M62. Uses no excess oil or water at all. Idles and runs perfectly as new! This car has never let me down, never left me stranded, never caused me any grief. It is the most ultra-reliable Alfa they ever made (probably). I reckon she is good for at least another 100K yet and she still pulls like a train with a fantastic gravely growl.

Bad stuff? A few paint stone chips and dints from motorway cruising. General wear you would rightly expect for the age but nothing exceptional. Side-skirts need re-sticking near the rear end which is common enough and just need a day in the garage to refit. A few minor alloy scuffs. Aircon needs a regas: recent new pipe fitted but not worth regassing it in the winter IMO. Apart from that, everything works...

Comes with full service history, in fact every receipt for every penny spent plus a spreadsheet for the last five years that shows exactly what the cost of fuel and overall running costs have been. Currently 12.2p per mile fuel and 16.8p per mile overall inc all servicing/parts/tyres etc ever, if you wanted to know.

Also has a Blaupunkt CD\MP3 head unit fitted with Sony Xplode speakers all round and a Sony Xplode amp fitted in the boot for extra noise levels

The car will be available mid January soonest as I`ve a few more family members to visit at new year before I can let her go, but you are welcome to leave a deposit to secure

Price - only £800 but no offers as this is a fair price for a fabulous car which will cost you virtually nothing to run for a long, long time. I`m in Newcastle but travel to Leeds every week and Hull from time to time. I also travel the country but at various times so I`m sure a meet can be worked out.

It’s a wonderful car and certainly a purchase you would NOT regret although I`ll be very sad so see it go

I`ve recently had a PC crash so only have some old photos - I`ll pout some new ones up when the local handwash place is open again!

Re: 156 V6 with LPG - an absolute bargain!

Looks lovely.. I wish I could afford a third one!

If I sell either of my 156s sometime soon you may get a PM from me, as I do need a cheapish car to runabout in, something sub £1000, cheap to run and reasonably quick.

I think you should be sad to see it go but happy when you get the replacement...
