Quote for 21 year old on 147 GTA

Just thought some might find it useful to know where I got the best quote from for myself on a 147 GTA

I tried several places most quoting over £3k! I then tried one of those money supermarket websites and got a decent quote from Bell (part of admiral) for £1600.

I then added my father on (who is an old git!) and that brought it down to just over £1200. I then tried it wih my mother as the named driver instead and it droped to £1060!!! I think that is pretty good considering I will never actually let her drive it.

With all the extras (courtesy car, driving other cars, legal cover etc) it was about £1150 but sill reasonable on a group 19 car for someone of my age.

For comparison purposes:

15k miles business use
2005 car valued at £14000
21 year old male main driver with 47 year old named female driver
Good rated postcode
parked on drive
occupation building surveyor

That's pretty impressive - you pay less insurance on a GTA than I did on a Golf 1.5D when I was 21...

How many yrs NCD?

Thats a great price. I pay more on my 1.8 Twinny.

I paid just under £1600 for my car this year. Just check on the bell site. It's only £1100

3 years NCD, license for over 4 years

I was expecting them to say there had been a mistake when i phoned up (it was an online quote) but it went through without any trouble. I just think that it is nicer than having an evo or subaru like everyone else. Their cars might be a little better but they are so naff, common and chavvy. They have their benefits but are not for me.

Re: Quote for 21 year old on 147 GTA

Good work.

I've been with Bell for 2 years now, usually quite competative. Was paying £450 TPFT for my old Fiat when I was 21. I'm paying £1050 F/C for the GTV now with 3years NCB so you did really well. I do live in the ghetto though .

One thing that was good about the Bell TPFT is that you could easily add glass cover for less than a tenner which is good round here. I've been lucky but almost every other weekend some t**t decides to brick the window of at least one car on the street.

Re: Quote for 21 year old on 147 GTA

have you tried noel dazely? the quoted me 900 fully comp on the 147 GTA at 21, and 760 FC for the 156 GTA! they were both with 3 years NCD

oh, and you do realise that declaring a parent as a main driver and then them not being the main driver CAN be seen as insurance fraud so be careful!!!

Re: Quote for 21 year old on 147 GTA

I found that adding my fiancee to my policy on my cars reduces it by about a hundred quid or so. Funny that considering she is only just turned 20 and held her license for months instead of years that she can be insured on big V6's!!! Where's the justice???

I have never heard of them, annoying!

well it is only a few hundred pounds which isn't too bad. Had i coughed up 3k and you made that post I'd would be a bit gutted. It is amazing the difference that can be found from one company to another. I guess some just class different cars in different ways. The way I look at it is that by wanting one of these instead of an evo it shows I'm a bit more level headed and a safer bet but someone else might look at it that I just wanted the biggest engine I could get to thrash about!

I tell you what it goes quick. I've been thinking about getting one of these for about a year and it doesn't seem that long ago at all!

You can still insure quite nice cars at 19 though. I had a clio 16v which I think is one of the best cars ever made. It is absolute rubbish in terms of build quality but gets your adrenaline up.

Cool! That's pretty reasonable, really, for a pimply yoof strapping himself into an armageddon device...

That sounds expensive Andy

I've been quoted less than that for a BMW 750i (5.4 Litre V12 with 326BHP) and I'm only 21.

Re: Quote for 21 year old on 147 GTA

Just gave Bell a go and they came out 3x more than I'm paying with Privilege!!! Although having girlie on as named driver did drop the price by a good £100.

Manybe at 27 I'm considered too old to be a careful driver. I'd prefer to believe it's a postcode thing though!

Re: Quote for 21 year old on 147 GTA

Tell you what, I'm having a right game insuring my GTA this year.

Cant get it under £1500. Admiral and Norwich Union quotes me the same. Autotorque "cant get near it". Currently waiting for a call back from Noel Dazely, who think they can get something for me.

Gotta call Chris Knott too.

Payed £800 last year :S 26yr old, 3 points, 1 claim, 6yrs NCB.
