33 kilometres per tank?

Hi,

posting here because in the UK they use miles but Cyprus like IReland uses kilometres, my question is for a 1.3 1994 33 how many kilometres would yu expect to get from a full tank? urban cycle?

I own an Alfa 33, ex 1.5IE, used to make around 400km per tank, normal urban conditions!

Hmmm....

Its quite odd really. I'd expect the 1.3 to burn more fuel than the larger engine ones, but NOT 300 khms ! Thats a bit too low.

The 1.7 16v 33 I have, before I did any mods to it, it gave me a max range of 520 khms which was mostly highway and careful driving conditions. At 520 it left me in the highway, near an exit for a gas station
Normal driving - bit of city driving, bit of highway, mix of high revs and conservative driving, gave me around 400 - 420khms

After the mods, it now gives me around 400 with conservative driving, and around 350khms when I drive it hard !

The worst thing that kills the drive range of the 33 is traffic ! IT HATES traffic !

Are you sure that your tank is empty?

The float ball may be cracked and fuel gets in it make it heavier and therefore lowering it thus showing less fuel in the tank.

In normal urban circumstances you should get at least 350km per tank.

Hi Alfa155 TS.

I have the same car, year 1991, 1350cc , with carbs (not injection).

Driving in the city gives me around 450 kms per tank, and mixed driving around 500kms/tank.

1. Check the fuel yu pay for each time yu go to the petrol station (as per Nikolas suggestion above)
2. Ask somebody to keep the engine at around 2000rpm, and look for leakages at the front and rear where the tank is, & close to the rear left wheel.

If its on carbs and its burning that much fuel, you should be able to smell the petrol a lot, especially at the back of the car.

A way to check if there is too much fuel in the mixture, is to take out the oil dip of the engine - where you check your oil level - and give it a sniff ! If it smells a lot like petrol, it means that too much petrol isnt burned and it goes into your oil.
Although it "washes" your pistons, its not good for your oil or your pocket

haha, no right foot diets for me thank you very much. I'm starting to think the tank wasnt full based on when I was filling it the bowser nozzle started to click and stop pumping as if the tank was full but the price only came to €45, in these times it does NOT cost €45 to fill a tank. Not when in Ireland its €1.55 per litre. It can happen with any car that the nozzle prematurely stops pumping

besides this is the least of my problems, check out the thread below.

Mine does 22mpg city/traffic driving and heavy foot. Motorway consumption improves to 36mpg at speeds around 110-120kph.

The only common between my Alfasud and an ECU is it's radio/cd.

with the 35l tank that 500s have, you could do maybe 500-600kms

the Abarth is around 400 with the 1.4 Tjet
