Old Alfas from Greece

For those who are interested in old "classic" Alfas...

I was walking/wondering around in Athens a few days ago when I noticed that there are a lot of old (and some of them very classic) Alfas, just abandoned on some streets!

Some of them were in a very terrible conditition, and some other looked like that with a bit of work (and money) they could be as good as new again!

And not only Alfas, I saw a 2CV6 and a 1959 Mercedes W120 (that was a real pitty)

Considering that nowdays is relatively easy to import and register left hand drive cars in Cyprus, I kept thinging that maybe it's much cheaper (and easy?) to buy and import old Alfas from Greece than the UK.

Has anyone think of that before?
Anyone has any opinion on this matter?

P.S. Also, to drive a left hand in Cyprus is as easy as driving a right hand (trust me)

No unfortunately I didn't, but next time I will have my camera with me
But my point, is not to start collecting junks form the streets of Athens
My point is that if there are so many Alfas in Greece, that means that there will be a big market for spare parts and for old and classic Alfas
Remember when I showed you that 1983 2.5 GTV6 that was for sale for 7k?
I know you didn't like the colour by it was in excellent condition

Also that Montreal that was for sale for 15k

I think prices are on the high side compared to UK sourced cars but I am sure you will spend less for body repairs especially if are from mainland areas.

As in Greece they drive on the ....... wrong side of the road their cars are LHD which is a serious problem in Cyprus when request to insure them. Nikola you know better with the Integrale, don't you?

Yes!
They only problem is that you can only insure LHDs as third party only.
But if the car is already registered as classic, then it gets easier because some insurance companies have a special category for classic cars
The problem with the integrale was that it is LHD, it is considered "high performance car" and it cannot registered as classic yet
That what made things more difficult

Just for FYI
While I was on holidays in Greece, me and a friend of mine took a day and went for a quick search for parts for our cars (I was looking for solenoid valve and wastegate for my Lancia)
Suprisingly we discovered a few places in Athens which are Gold mines for old/used Alfa Romeo parts.
A guy there told us that if we are interested in old classic Alfas there are many opportunities coming up very often these days.

What ???

-tasteless sausages - not like ours - fried in 50 year old oil,
-beans with brake fluid
-fried blood
-mushrooms from the suwage
-couple of slices off a pigs booty
and eggs that fell off a worm eating chicken's rear end who is involved romantically with the rooster !

not sure what the white stuff is, but you can always leave it behind.

Love it
