Cyprus Vs UK

back from a very nice trip to UK a few days ago , and I thought it would be good to let you know some of the differences I noticed between the two countries !

UK:

1 - Never seen a smurf (cop) in the streets in the 10 days I was there !
2 - The sidewalks are no more than 10 cm high !
3 - You can modify any car in any way and still be legal if you do the basics on it.
4 - There are zebra crossings EVERYWHERE and drivers actually STOP
5 - You dont have to pay TAX on an already taxed car from the EU
6 - If you feel like driving, you can get your car in the morning and drive to France for some snails or whatever
7 - Most people are very friendly and always helpful
8 - Road tax is quite cheap but insurance is a bit steep

Cyprus:

1- There is a smurf everywhere you look. If you pick up a stone from the pavement, there will be a cop underneath !
2 - Our sidewalks are either non existent or I cant see them, or in the case where there is a sidewalk, its about as tall as mount Everest !
3 - If you even think about changing the wheels on your car into some nice alloys, they will take your car and send you to court !
4 - I think I've seen some zebra crossings somewhere. I tried getting across one day and I caused an accident
5 - You have to pay TAX on the already taxed car that you paid for, and then you have to pay VAT tax on that tax you already paid twice
6 - If you feel like driving, you get in your car and an hour later you will be in Pafos Then if your car cant swim , your trip is over !
7 - You can say " Hello " as long and as loud as you want to !!! I CANT HEAR YOU !!!
8 - You can probably get away with cheap-ish insurance, but you still have to pay 220 Euro a year for a 20 year old Alfa 33

8, depends on what car you have. the new rental car you had probably puts out hardly any emissions so they think it deserves to use the roads for less

an alfa 33 1.7 will still cost £205 per year for road tax

i tax my sud for 6 months and it's about £70, no point in putting it on the road through the winter months due to the crappy weather and road salt didn't mention that did you

nope , I just mentioned what I noticed ! By the way, do you know how much Eddie pays road tax for his 50000cc sud ? You would be surprised ! Would you like to know how much he would have to pay here ?

guess he is still in the old tax bracket, £205 p.a. being the limit? unless he has wangled a pre '76 regestration so gets it free

you lot do have the best looking women though, can't argue there

but at least we have a big enough island to get away from them

no road tax, insurance is £80 for 3rd party or 4% of the value of the car for comprehensive
we have loads of sun but during the summer its too hot to go out.
police..... they dont pay too much attention to your driving unless its reckless or you're on the phone.
there is nowhere interesting to drive here unless your going to the beach hahaha
Some people are friendly but mostly they just stare at you lol
zebra crossings !!! thats too scary to even contemplate, even trafiic lights dont guarantee anything
girls....plenty of asian girls but mostly local girls are covered up

Of course not ! If they charged you for fees for driving into the center of Nicosia we probably would have killed them by now !
How else are you supposed to go there if there is no public transportation ?

Petrol is pretty much the same I think, but they also have a high grade fuel if you want to

...another ride in the V8 Sud maybe, another ride in Andrew's 3 ltr GTV6 as well, some more driving in the country side

unleaded is around £1-17 per litre at the moment.
super unleaded is available pretty much everywhere and is around 5 to 10p more p.l.


and to avoid fees for going into city centres just avoid london i've only ever been there about 2 or 3 times in my 40+ years here much prefer the relatively deserted country roads. will do when my 145 gets finished anyway
