Strange sound

Hi guys,

i can hear a ticking sound sometimes when on low speed taking a turn, and today while heavy breaking. It sounds (and feels) like it's coming from the wheels ,probably suspension or axles but since i don't know much regarding car engines and stuff, your opinion would be helpful.

thanks

I have same "problem" and it's coming from the front wheels when I a turn as well. I asked a guy with a spider and he also has the same problem
I took it to the dealer and they told that it is nothing important, something like a screw that touches somewhere from time to time.
They fixed it but after a while it appeared again...
But I don't know if iyour case is the same, it's better to go and have it checked

OUR dealers ALWAYS say it is NOT IMPORTANT!
They also say that 'selespeed actuator leakage is NOT IMPORTANT'.(Actuators are 'born' like this/defective/you MUST accept it-they say)

The chances are it's your outer CV joints (common fault on all FWD cars) they tend to have a lifespan of around 80-90k depending on road conditions, they're quite easy to replace and as they're a common problem on most modern cars are normally easy to get hold of.
Hope this helps
Ian

Oh! and don't worry it's not like your wheel is going to fall of if they fail... you'll just lose drive (it'd be clunking it's brains out before that happened)

you should have it checked just in case.

My fiancee mentioned that she heard some noises in the front of her 156 and I had a look. She was right, the front stabilizer bars were shot.

By the way, I called the dealership for new ones. The told me 163 euro with VAT for the pair. I told them I didnt want them and I ordered the exact same ones brand new and original from ebay for 23 euro including shipping and yes, thats the price paid for BOTH of them !!!

Does your problem occur if you steer fully left or right ? or just with slight steering ?

Just got a second opinion for my "strange sounds"
The sound comes from the brake callipers and there is no problem with it for now and for the future
The mechanic told me that this is common for the new BMW models
that was a relief

Maybe the kids are very loud.
That's why you don't hear the noises
