Had one of these fitted to my QV today! It's amazing.
Couldn't stop smiling on the drive back, it's everything I wanted including making the shifts smoother! In real life terms, the cars so much quicker up to speed now and 3rd into 4th is insanely quick!
It was a bit hassle for them to fit though, but it's worth it! A must have!
The price does vary depending on your engine variant, but cost £60 odd including delivery.
Thanks for the report.
Had the idea a few months ago, but never did the installment. I was hesitating because of the already relativley short shifts. With the short shifter installed do you still have a good feeling which gear is in? I´m a bit afraid of loosing the control and the feeling for the gears.
Did you do the installment by yourself?
Nice! The Mito could definetly use a short shifter! I would like one which also makes the gear lever itself shorter though, as I think it looks and feels way too long!
I had a garage fit mine.
There's more feel of the gears now!
Agree with the long gear stick, but with the short shifter, the sticks so much more secure and firm! It's brilliant.
Has anyone tried the Bonalume short shifter? Bonalume RS Schalthebel It seems to be the whole shifter, so maybe the length of the shifter itself is also shorter?
Well I ordered it, but could not install it. I tried it thrice, but I could not get the lever apart. Any hints on this problem? (The space is very limited, you can barely reach the nut with the ratchet.) In the installation guide it is simply mentioned to "use an appropriate tool to remove the original shifter"....
thanks for the hints. I already tried it three times, never managed to get the lever apart. Perhaps WD40 will do the trick. The original ball joints are coming easily off or is there a trick too?
The ball joint comes off easily, hard part it the star shaped part, i struggled, eventually used some Q20 left it over night, the next morning it just popped out, remove the battery and battery under cover for space to work...
well, I finally LET it be installed (did cost me around 100 pounds) and the receipt showed "difficult installation...", 1,5 hours.
But it is GREAT. really great. very cool feeling, a bit stiffer, but not too stiff. I think it suits the QV very well :thumbu p:
