Dyno

So, my mate likes to fiddle with his car and now he's buggered it up ( ); so I took him to a performance shop who said they would fix it.

While we were there, we wondered what the MiTo was getting at the wheels and asked if we could do a dyno.

Apparently, we can't.

Why?



Because you can't turn off the traction control.

Telling a man he can't dyno his car is like telling a boy he can't play with his transformers. As much as I love my car, right now, I hate Alfa for taking away the "secret DNA mode" which I dubbed "Super Awesome Death Machine Mode: .. Q.Q

You might be able to turn it off by changing the map on the ECU but it all depends on how Alfa set it up... But, default off the showroom floor? No chance.

Thats crap! I really wanted to have a run on the dyno at some point, what a let down!

Pull the fuse. Common practice for cars with a set up you can't fully disengage

Yes you just need to take the fuse out. its what i had to do.

Or disconnect a wheel sensor, though any of these bodges will also disable DNA if that affects engine power on your model? Don't think it does on most...

disconecting wheel sensor its the quickeiest way - about 10 seconds,
does not affect DNA and your car is ready to roll

When I had faulty sensor (ie disconnected due to broken wire) I had no DNA.

And where can I find that wheel sensor you are talking about? I would like to give it a try and see if it works.

Under wheel arch, there is a connector to right of strut on ns wheel or left of strut on os wheel. Has a little interlock clip which needs lifting with a fine screwdriver and the top slides out, bottom part of connector is fastened to inner wing. Very easy to do, just turn the wheels for a bit of extra space...
