xenon headlamps

hi all can anyone help my mito 1600 jtdm veloce has xenon headlamps fitted with the auto self levelling and when driving home last night they were well low could only see a bout a couple of feet in front of me very dangerous, i switched car off locked it and unlocked it the lights go down then back up to the right height but then they just keep creeping down to the very low setting its now out of warranty when in warranty i had the same issue was told they cleaned sensor connections but think there may be some other problem because they do move up and down so the controller is working its just the final height setting thats wrong

Could be a failed suspension sensor. The bit that tells the light how high/low it should be.
Had one go an a previous car and the symptoms you described were just the same.

Had to change both front and rear sensors to get the lights working.

You getting any warning lights on the dash?

All xenons have self levelers and washers by law in UK.

Yeah, that's what he said:

It would appear to be broken in some way.

Sorry I'm of no help, never had xenon lights on any car.

I believe that if the fault was reported under warranty and persisted until out of warranty you have a claim there. I would go down the route of this was reported under warranty and nothing was done so imo you've got some clout there.

I agree. My Mito's got Xenons and has suffered occasional self-levelling failures, usually
rectifiable by stopping the engine and re-starting.

At its recent 1st service I asked to have the sensors checked, and it is working right now.
But as I'm into the last year of warranty I'll be watching things carefully- I must get under the
car to examine the system to see what it is that causes the problems
