Condensation In Light Cluster

So, I drove through a flooded road last night and have come out to my car this morning to find the right light cluster has condensation in the bottom half. I called up Alfa to ask how I can clean this out and they told me its an £800 as the have to replace the whole cluster and take the bumper off.....

If someone could tell me how to get rid of this condensation that would be great. Alfa said I could try leaving my Headlamps on but ive had a Xenon conversion done so im worried that it will corrode the contacts.

Thanks,
JS

Remove the lamp and all plugs etc and let it air out.

a slightly DIY suggestion would be to take the back rubber seals off (round discs behind the lights that are removable to change bulbs) and turn on the lights

do all this on a dry day (once we get one) and the heat from the lights should evaporate the moisture after some time, plus the air should get in too

I haven't loked at the access but maybe a couple of bags of silica gel placed inside may do the trick.

Thanks. I've taken the plastic covers off so air can get in with the bonnet left open a crack. It baffled me why my left light didn't condensate and my right one did - my left light has no covers on it!!

£800!?!? What a load of nonsense. What kind of rational human would even propose to carry out 800 pounds worth of work for condensation in a light?

They went on about how they have to remove the bumper etc, take the whole light cluster out and replace it with a brand new one.... Did seem a bit long winded and expensive to me!

I had this once, and a mate told me to remove the covers and bulbs etc, and blow hot air in using a hairdryer. I did and it saved me 2 headlights for my old 33 and passed its MOT too.
I still do this today if there is any moisture in the lights.

My left cluster has no cover on the bottom (dipped beam) light and that never gets any condensation in it. I think I will remove the right cover too to let the air in. Is it safe to not have covers on?

Regards,
JS

it will be safe, but the covers do or are supposed to keep out the moisture, so once they have dried out replace the covers.
