Leather Door Cards on the MiTo?

Hi guys,

A few days ago I was browsing around this forum and came across a conversation about leather doorcards for the MiTo. It had a couple of links to photographs that no longer existed (the discussion was from 2009) and I got the impression that it was something that was offered, but not in the UK.

I cannot for the life of me find the thread again now..

So: does anyone know anything about it? Is it something that can be ordered from somewhere in Europe and retrofitted to our cars? Or is it just a pipe dream?

It's one of the only things about the MiTo interior that I think lets it down a little bit - especially when comparing the interior to the 147 or the GT with their plush leather door cards..

Yeap - door card is the bit of trim on the inside of the door.

I'm convinced there's a really old thread on this forum somewhere that discusses it as an option - someone had linked to a car for sale somewhere in Europe (now a dead link) which had leather interior trim. I can't even find a photograph.

From the original thread the consensus seemed to be that it was an option not offered in the UK..

Anyone who can dig out any information would be much appreciated! I'll have another dig through my browser history and see if I can find it that way..

EDIT: Found the original thread! http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...urely-not.html (Leather Door Inserts - Surely NOT??)

So questions are: whatever happened to that company selling them (that link doesn't work), and was/is it a factory option somewhere at some point?

Nice idea. Pity not offered over here.
But Britain is bankrupt and a lover of 'the plastic'
So maybe it was some kind of Alfa enigma ; )

Door card is not a term used in the industry (I work in a tier1 supplier), try door panel in English panello porta in Italian, tuerverkleidung in German. Sorry for being pedantic but the term door card is non descriptive.

thirty years ago it was a card threaded into flanges at the top and bottom of the door inner but it's a little bit more complex now ,with side impact boxes door pocket all heatstaked together etc.Its a door trim.

True, but generally a piece of flat stock wrapped in yinyl or other material, memory is failing me but MB 190 and BMW E30 were possibly the first mass market Door panels produced (using a process from Germay Fibritt?)

Wow thats an old thread of mine.
Gave up with out Mito and just had the carbon trim. IIRC there was a member from AO with a white Mito and tan leather form Holland who had his doors done in leather by a local company. (Its a very long time ago now so I may be wrong) It looked the bees knees and really lifted the car.
Im sure an interior trim company would be able to do something similar for you? (There have been a number of posts on here for good upholstery companies!)
Cheers
Graham
