Wing Mirror Issues

Hi Guys, need some advice please!

Some utter idiot has broken my pass side wing mirror off (again!!). Last time it popped back onto the peg but this time the pivot has completely snapped but the actual wing mirror itself is intact.

Does anyone know if it is possible just to replace the platform and if so where I could purchase one?

Also does anyone have a diagram of the wing mirror and how to remove it?

Any help would be muchly appreciated

Last time Alfa quoted me just under £300 (I cried) but I can find one online for £84.99 - does that sounds reasonable?

Thanks!

Get a used one off eBay or from a breaker, about £25 should be enough...

Fixings will be behind the plastic triangle on inside, a breaker might swap it for you if you ask nicely!!

Mirror is easy to replace - you need to have the door card off (there is a thread on that knocking about) so you can get to the plug for the wiring, then it's just a case of plug the new mirror in, bolt it on and put the door card back.

I got a new one off ebay for £16 but around the £85 mark seems about the going rate for buy it now on ebay.

Thank you, obviously I won't be replacing myself but I have a kind gentleman friend who has offered to do it for me

The one you got from ebay - was that sprayed or not?

The unit i got came without the cover cap - so i took the one off my broken mirror and clipped it on.

From what i've seen on ebay they tend to come primed.

Wow it's that easy? Dealers are proper rip off merchants then, most of the ££s they wanted was for getting it sprayed!

Glad I wasn't girly for once and told them to shove it lol

Mirror issues - cover

Re muzikdon's comment:-

I have slight damage on my stainless cover - I've bought a new cover but cannot see how to get the damaged one off - do I need to take the mirror off first?

I have been advised that if you take the glass out there's some tabs that pop the cover off

Yeah - You need to pop the glass off, you should then be able to see the tabs in order to get the cover off.
