Alfa 159 3.2 Lusso Q4

159 3.2 Q4 Must Go

Hi all due to very high running costs and company car tax I have to down size, I have been looking hard and all though I wanted to wait for the 159 replacement 2014 is too long, the only car in the alfa range that I feel is a bit special is the Mito Cloverleaf Quadrifoglio Verde
it fits my budget £23.000 it has low Co2 139 can any one offer alternative, all advise what I will miss about 159 taking into consideration, 90% of the time the car will only have me inside
Cheers

for 23k you could have a fully spec'd mito QV. had mine for a year and still going out on random drives for no reason as i just love driving it so much.

never driven a 159 so cant really help there mate

Running costs are low also, can get real good mpg is driven sensible

I think my Alfa 3.2 GTV was, The XKRS was great also. Alfa are doing 0% on new cars The Mito QV is saving £80.00 a week on running costs and company car tax when I take into account no mot's etc so it paying for it's self but Alfa are only offering £6,750 om my 32,000 miles 159 3.2 Q4 which is in great condition with full ALFA Service

MiTo

My sister had an 159 2.4Jtd. When comparing to my MiTo, these are the things you will be missing: Steering is not quite alfa, decent still, but not Alfa. Interior finish is not up to same level as 159. Nice car still!!

You're trading down, so it goes without saying that you will miss some of the fit and finish from the 159. My wife had a Mito 155 while I had a 159 3.2 Q4, and while the 159 was still the one I liked the most I did find myself grabbing the Mito whenever I got a chance.

You will miss the Q4, the Leather, the steering feel, the engine note, the ride quality and the big comfy seats. and you wont like the door trim in the Mito.

You'll gain a lot too though, like, a much nippier, more responsive engine. The kick a turbo gives. MUCH better fuel economy and cheaper tyres (if your Mito has 17's) Better headlights, an improved infotainment system with Blue and me and a car that is easier to park thanks to an improved turning circle.

Things to add to the mito to try and get it a little closer to the 159's spec (I don't know how much of his is standard on the car in UK spec). First, it's gotta be the QV (which I believe comes standard with adaptive suspension in the UK), then add cruise control, auto wipers and lights, leather, dual zone climate control (might also be standard)and up the sound (either factory bose or an aftermarket system).

Then get yourself a novitec chip box and it'll be quicker than your 159 was (trust me, my wifes was waaay quicker than mine, but i'm at altitude so the v6 struggled for air).

Remember, you are downgrading, so the primary objective is to save, and with that in mind I honestly can't think of a car in the Mito's price bracket that's more rewarding, better specced, better looking or that has more badge appeal that can be bought new. A Mini maybe, but you're a guy, so that would be ridiculous.

Been inside the 159 and the interior is lush. even for its price range its the best. obviously the mito is a fair bit cheaper so cant really expect to much. saying that im overall happy with mine (have the full black leather interior)

With only a few mods you can make a QV fairly fast, to match most other hot hatches about.

I would like to thank you all for your help, I purchased A Mito Cloverleaf today not the QV due to the fact the Carbon/F Seats were too hard, hold you snug, anyway they had a pre-registered 61 plate with 50 miles on clock, Glass Roof Heated Red Leather Seats and lots more all for £18,690 and they gave me £6,750.00 For my 159 Q4 I had a test in the QV Demo and liked the car a lot.
so my savings are paying for the car so it is not costing me any more to have a new car.

Many congrats!

Same alloys as mine....make sure you don't scuff them as they corrode quite badly if you do!

Nice purchase! Looking good in the white! A little confused as to which model you got though? The QV is just an abbreviation for Quadrofoglio Verdre which is italian for cloverleaf (4 leaf).

In late 2011 Alfa uk updated the cloverleaf with some added extras as standard. Whilst doing so they changed the official model name to quadrofoglio verdre to signal the model difference.

Did it the same time they changed the veloce to distinctive etc I think...

yip you have got it correct, they have made some name changes and reduced the line up, the 62 plate has the white and green cloverleef badge and the 2012 QV as it will now be known has silver and green, also green stiching inside. (I have asked them to remove badges as I want to fit the cloverleef shape without the background which I think is to large and cheap looking
I will try to look after them wheels, they look easy to keep clean so I will avoid wheel cleaner sprays and just use mild detergent and lots of polish for protection

Same engine (the range top model - 170hp) just slight variation in the trimmings/extra's as standard.
