Hmmm Cheap insurance?

Hey all!

I'm getting my car in april. I have looked on here but couldn't find anything about insurance.

Basically I used one of them confused sites and the cheapest I got is £950 fully com I even put female driver as the second driver. I think it's The area I live in why my insurance so high.

I'm 29 with 5 years NCB and i had 1 accident nearly 5 years ago so still have to put that in .

Is it cheap insurance?? And if you have found cheap can you tell me the name??

Thanks in advance.

I'm 22, 2 years NCB, no accidents/points, female second driver in a not-so-great part of town, and I'm paying £1020 on a 2010 155TB. That's with admiral.

Thanks for the quick reply.
It is so weird that urs is so similar and u have only 2 years NCB.
I know diff factors apply when you want cheaper insurance. But I think the major one is where u live. What about the accident? Is it major point to insurance??

GT Cloverleaf & Mito 155

23, no accidents, driving 6 years and my ins. is £420

Been that much 3 years running though so I get absolutely nothing for the additional no claims.

Probably reflects the fact that overall costs in the insurance market have gone up.

Try putting your mother or father onto the policy as this should reduce the price a little also.

By all means, use the price comparison sites to get a ball park figure, but after that, contact the insurer's direct... I saved 20% on the quoted price at Swift.
£292 fully comp for a 2.5 v6 2000 plate, full no claims and (42), advanced driver + a named driver (59) in a rural area... So it is possible

Ty Graham i did put my mum as a second driver and that was my best price £950. But I just put my brothers postcode who lives in tylbury and it came out as £720 which is what I was expecting.
But can I actually put his address on it?? Or is it not aloud?? Because I know some of my mates do that.

If you don't live there I would strongly recommend against doing that.

Price comparison websites aren't much cop in my experience as they have their favoured insurers who won't necessarily get you the best deal. I'm in my early 40s and had an at-fault accident 4 weeks after getting my Cloverleaf.

Putting my details into the different sites came back with a cheapest quote of over £700 fully comp with protected NCD and business use - the cheapest excess was £600 too. My actual renewal was £445 with a £100 excess - try calling Privilege Insurance.

Ok will do. I normally put 150 as excess but I guess the more u put the lower insurance will be.
Oh btw I thought it would be much cheaper if you insure 2 cars and have each driver insured as a second driver, but I was wrong. I tried it with my mums insurance and they gave us 2k price and that was with admiral :/

There are many catches with Admiral multi-car policies. They start looking reasonable but quickly become expensive.

I also think because of your accident you had nearly 5 years ago this is making it more expensive.

Out of curiosity have you tried getting an online quote without mentioning the accident? To see if this is making a big difference to your quote? NOTE I am not suggesting you do this for real..! only to see if its making a difference.

I have just picked up my first alfa the other day. A mito cloverleaf. Im 22, 3yrs no claims.

Insurance was £1170 for the year with admiral.

This price is high due to the mileage I do (approx 20k+ pa) and I also have business use. So a pretty good price I think.

I found it on a comparrison site, but they lowered the price after I called them direct and with slightly better cover. (This is easy to negotiate as they do not have to pay 'the middle man - comparisson site' their cut.

P.S. putting parents on as named drivers also reduced it significantly.

I will try to do it without it. And yes it is a good price u have there as you only 22 when u get to 25 it will be MUCH cheaper for you.

But I still think the MAJOR thing about how cheaper your insurance will be is where u live and how many NCB you have.

We are with Admiral multicar and can't complain at all, we pay £870 for my Seat Ibiza (4 years NCB) and the wife's Mito (2 years NCB), both named on both cars, both with commuting, and only £100 excess. I'm 29 and she's 23, seems very reasonable to me!

Yeah that's really good deal mate. I haven't checked how much the insurance will be without the accident Coz I haven't been on comp yet (using iPhone).

Btw they told me that the car might be ready in 2-3 weeks so I will get my present before my bday )

Just have to sort something out with my insurance before it gets here.
