Mito 1.3JTDM woes

My wife loves her Mito, but recently it's developed a few faults, up to recently it's been really good....

1. Oil change needed (18k 10 plate) not a fault as such lol
2. Front suspension clonks over even minor bumps
3. Stop-Start struggles to start after 3-4 stops (like the clutch pedal switch perhaps is worn?)
4. Heater fan very noisy
5. Outside temp gauge faulty, normally reads around -35C or just ---
6. Side windows squeak as they close up when door closes and glass contacts the top rubber
7. Drivers seat back creaks

Car is going to dealer tomorrow, just wondered if anyone has experience of these faults?

My wife says that Alfas aren't a matter of life and death. I agreed, but then she went and bought one!!

Items 4 and 7 have caused me problems. The windows will probably need the regulators replaced. They replaced mine and that cured the problem. The noisy heater is still to be looked at but will be attended to the next time the car is in the dealers.

My stop-start rarely works, probably because I only use the car
infrequently, so the battery's charge is low.

I keep the door windows happy by smearing their edges with
silicone grease- this reduces friction and repels water.

The seatback release catches are troublesome, but usually
work after a bit of jiggling... (they're badly engineered IMHO)

Otherwise, nowt to complain about!

Still averaging 60+ mpg, 1st service due next spring at 2nd birthday
as only done just over 12k miles so far.

1. Not done as there is an issue with the service plan we got when we bought the car - apparently the oil service isn't covered even though it was asked to be included.
2. New front drop links fitted.
3. Battery charged up but still need time to see if that's made a difference
4. Leaves in fan (); removed and now ok
5. Connector in door corroded
6. Forgot to mention this
7. Car needs to go back for 2 days for this to be fixed...

The seat back creaking seems to stem from the lumbar support. If you do a search you'll find solutions to this - I think you can unzip the seat backs and wrap the metal bars in the seat with tape to stop it.
It's worth getting some silicone spray to apply to the door seals, particularly as it's getting a bit chilly out there.

Had a problem with the seat mechanisms - they are indeed badly made and have been bad since i got the car - the passenger side has given up completely and is going in for repair next week.

Same goes for rattly suspension - something to do with the shock absorbers I believe, clonks rather loudly upon turning the wheel especially at a standstill.

Had a new alternator fitted due to a dying battery earlier in the year, too.

Stop start will not work if the weather is to cold if the heater is on if the battery charge level is low if you are in traffic and have to keep stopping and starting the clutch switch is digital and dont fail often. The training course i went on for stop start was 2 days long there is so much that can effect stop start that in every day driving it never works 100%.I had a demo for 2 weeks when i went on the mito launch and it very rarely stopped in traffic it is more of a selling point

I reckon it's now becoming universal to get the official EU emissions figure as low as possible,
so only needs to work for the model's certification testing

I don't worry when mine's not working (that's most of the time...) because a diesel engine uses
very little fuel when idling.
