Now, now
What's that old Pirelli advert - power is nothing without control? Then again, 185hp is a big number from the tiny 1.4 hair drier Dyno charts? Any 0-60 runs?

Give Jerry (his car ) or Phil , Paul at the Alfashop a call all 3 have driven the car. See previous posts about how good they say it is. I believe Jerry's was the development car. Months later and they have had no problems at all.

I know this is probably a silly question, but when do you notice the power increase the most? e.g. off the line, 30-50 etc?
Does this do any damage to the engine in the long run? Obviously if you keep putting your foot down it will but what about normal driving?
Cheers
To be honest the power increase is noticeable throughout the entire rev range.
The car responds quicker when you want it to and there is no effect on normal crusing speeds.

I haven't even got mine yet and I want more power!! Who's nearest to Bristol to carry this remap out and how run in does the car have to be? I assume I can't drive it in straight from the dealers?!

Why not. Mate of mine bought a Mazda 323 from a dealer's earlier int he year. He insisted we stop at Pipercross to fit a new air filter on the way back to his. Modded before he'd got it home...

The only thing that worries me is that with more power comes less control? I drive down a lot of country roads and when i floor it to overtake in D I always feel like I'm going to come off the road
Maybe I should wait for a 4WD Milano GTA or Mito GTA (doubtful )....
Maybe my tyres are ****, I was told they were pretty rubbish ones (Falcon)

i would imagine that if they connected a computer up to the ecu they would be able to tell. You would most likely then find that your insurance is invalid! You pays your money you takes your chances i guess

Well that shouldn't be a problem if you take your car to your local friendly alfa mechanic who wouldn't care

The guys that fitted them said they were pretty rubbish ones but were cheap and because they had already fitted them I thought I would just keep them on.

according to all i have have read about remapping it is not possible for a dealer to diagnose any changes to a cars performance and most places that do remaps will change the car back to original settings if you wish for a small fee

Thinking of getting a 120. However the std 120 drives nicely with a lot of low down torque, so i wouldnt want to lose that.
So, is it possible on the 120 (like the 155) to only have the mod active when in 'D' and not the other modes?
With regard to not telling the insurance co : If you have a bad, high cost accident, or a big injury claim, the loss adjuster will find any way of getting out of paying. I would not put it past the ability of the insurance co to look at the code in the ECU. Esp if the car has other boy racer mods.....

If you have trouble keeping grip, it's a driver error not a car error, more power will make it easier to understeer but i don't think it will cause any dangerous problems having more power.
it's a matter of not putting your foot down too far to keep it under control, but you won't go off the road in a front wheel drive car unless you are turning around a corner and hit a bump, or suddenly decelerate/hit the brakes. because as long as you are in a straight line the torque steer helps to keep the car facing forwards if you are on the gas.
u gotta be a lot more careful on bumpy country roads though

Bumpy roads, standing water and rubbish tires all make it more likely for you to end in the bushes. I've put the power down in D mode on a wet road (for testing purposes ) and the car torque-steers a bit, then traction control kicks in hard by braking the spinning wheel. Thumping noises from the front, the steering wheel wriggling in my hands, but as long as the wheel is straight you should stay on the road.
