No, won't even consider one until the GTA comes out
Even then it depends on whether I'm forced into a change because of government taxation

Re: Official UK prices and specifications
I was in Mervyn Stewarts this evening leaving the GTA in to get a couple of issues sorted, and they showed me this too.£11,000 ! Maybe talk the wife out of that 500 now! They also had a photo of the convertable. Not my cup of tea,but if its priced around £12-13,000 they reckon Alfa won't be able to build them fast enough! Also top marks to the guys at Stewarts, they are not only sorting out my niggles(although you could say that should have been done before they handed the car over to me)they even lent me a new 159JTD for a couple of days

No slating - i can understand where you're coming from. It is, however, aimed at the Mini, so the pricing ain't bad.

God that looks awful, a big slab sided turd with comedy headlamps and grille. Remember how pert the Alfasud looked with it's low bonnet line?
The Mini might be getting on a bit now but I bet it's still better than this thing. I wait to be corrected but that looks like another thinly disguised Fiat.

Priced agiainst the mini, problem is the mini has a good image and rightly or wrongly is preceived as a high quality brand.
Alfa still don't have this image and I'm not sure if they ever will.
Top of the launch range with leather will be getting on for £16k. Lot of money for a small car with a dealer network that is still not up to the mark.
£16k for a dressed up punto or £16k for a mini, not really that difficult a decision, proven residuals, proven build quality/reliability etc.
The big thing in the Mito's favour is it will be loaded with equipment - if it works.
Would like the Mito to be a success but IT IS a dressed up Punto.

We are talking about the same BMW mini aren't we? They have a huge number of issues with brakes, build quality etc.

Not heard of any problems with Mini's, even if there are some problems I would have more confidence in a BMW dealer to sort them than an Alfa dealer.
I'm not sure how easy it will be to attract buyers to Alfa that would otherwise buy a Mini.
Unfortunately Alfa's reputation is still perceived to be p*ss poor by people that don't own Alfa's and quite a few that do own them.
Either way it still a dressed up Punto.

i have to agree with you here, the mk2 BMW mini has a lot more issues than the previous version. you also pay a lot of money for not a lot of car with a bad image in the enthusiast world but loved by everyone else

A 'Sud style "low bonnet line" will never be recreated due to pedestrian crash protection blah blah blah unfortunately
Open your mind to the modern world Andy and think of the pedestrians.... for god's sake man think of the pedestrians

It is still a dressed up Punto, I agree, but so what? Most cars are a dressed up something or other (Gawd, look at the VAG group).
Mate's mini had numerous recalls because of the brakes and three new steering wheels in as many years because the leather wore off. The brake recalls were often aborted because the parts/software hadn't arrived or didn't fit/work. And it rattled like mad. And it ate light bulbs. And these were common issues.
Same guy replaced the Mini with a brand-new 1 series, which had to have a new dashboard within 1 week of delivery. He also got rid of the 1-series after 9 months because the ride was unbearable.
We don't read about these things, do we?

Your right, we don't hear about these problems, probably because they are not that plentiful for the amount of cars produced.

I forgot - there are always mitigating circumstances for other manufacturers

Re: Official UK prices and specifications
If the MiTo is just a bogged up Grande Punto it rather begs the question.....
.....why not just buy a Grande Punto? I know they've had some fairly major issues (porous blocks and bodyshell water leaks mainly) but chances are they've been sorted now and they're very good value for money.
£16k? That's a mint 1600GT Junior and an ex demo Punto.
Oh, a b*llocks to pedstrians. Walk in front of a moving car, you get injured!
The 1 Series rides on runflat tyres and the ride is just a joke. A bit like the rest of the car in fact, horrible things.

The ride in the 1 series is very poor, but I thought the rest of the car felt solid and drove very well.
The biggest thing for me when I had any problems with my 1 series the BMW dealer sorted it 1st time, none of this 4 attempts to fix a fu*king rocking chair in a Brera.
Alfa have a lot of work on their plate if they are going to entice Joe public into the brand, you only have to look on this forum to see how badly some owners have been treated.

Somehow Merc and Audi manage it with equally questionable dealerships.
