I'm experiencing some problems with gear changing on my 97 2.0 Spider which I think could be the clutch giving up but would appreciate some advice.
On the change from 1st to 2nd the gear level sometimes feels "stuck" at first and comes free with a jolt. Now the box has started to grind occasionally on the change from 2nd to 3rd unless the change is very slow. Changes down from 4th to 3rd are the same.
There is plenty of oil in the box and I bled the slave some months ago and no sign of leaks.
If it is the clutch, how easy is this to change yourself? I looked at the workshop manual last night and the official way involves a serious strip down of the front end. Surely that can't be necessary?
