3.0 12V upgrades/mods
Have introduced myself elsewhere already, but I am looking for some guidance and your experiences on the engine situation on my spider.
Its a 1995 3.0 12V engine, a LHD German import with 150,000 kms and a full history. I have owned the car for 8 years or so, gradually improving and replacing bits (autodelta filter, squadra chip, full stainless quad custom exhaust) but the fundamental engine remains untouched.
Thing is the standard lump only produced 192bhp from the factory and I guess she is probably doing 175 or so realistically at present. The car is a little tappety (solid lifters?) but basically reliable.
So, the car is approaching 100k miles now and I want to improve the engine output. Clearly the engine itself is not going to give mega increases due to its age but where do i go?
An obvious upgrade may be a GTA engine, but this is an early V6 12v, so things will be different electrically and mechanically? Alternatively rebuild the current one and upgrade cams, CDA, remap etc is an option. Wild idea was a low pressure turbo.........
I want to keep the driveability of the car and not make it lumpy and unrefined but still get 250-275BHP.
