I'm trying to fathom the state of play on my GTV at the moment on the alarm front...
It's a Cup, so is phase 2, 1st registered July 2002 although I suspect, like most Cups initial chassis build (if not completion?) occured in Summer 2001 - just look at the air bag check date stamps if you have a Cup! - these things have a supposed ten year lifespan!
Anyhow, the "optional" alarm according to the manual should mean keys with remote control of alarm & c/locking, and an alarm override key in the right inner wing. Have none of these.
Had a bit of a shock therefore at Sunday teatime when the battery died whilst cranking the engine and an alarm that supposedly wasn't fitted went off....
A quick pull apart of the car and a "Fiat linea accessori" stickered siren was found in the offside inner wing. No means of shutting it up, so off it came to be silenced with sledge hammer.
Eventually found an alarm control system (also badged "Fiat linea accessori") behind the centre console after pulling the passenger footwell carpet out. Lots of wires, hideously complex (to me anyway), ended up pulling fuses out which seems to have disabled it and left the rest of the car mostly operational (I think). Not 100% on that as the battery is dead (completely) so will be first job to replace it at the weekend.
I suspect that what I have found most have been fitted by the supplying dealer as the wiring looked, well, shall we say way too interesting to have been factory fitted.
Is there any other alarm surprises likely to be lurking and waiting to bite?
