I'd found this German company who make "one-piece" Spider tops - with a slightly larger rear window, no longer swap-able by exchanging a section of the roof, and with a slight modification to the corner where the side-screen meets the roof.
I also had an issue with a leaking main roof cylinder and I was looking for an opportunity to have that fixed as well.
I then found a small outfit way in the East of the country that could accommodate both: with a deal with the German firm, they could get me the top I wanted, and with their local contacts with an hydraulics specialist, they had a means of having two new cylinders made.
I took delivery of the car last Saturday; it's way quieter inside with the top up. It withstood the first downpour with flying colors. And i think it looks great!
As the fabric needs to set, I have to keep the top closed for the next three weeks - I may not survive.
The fabric is Sonnenland Akustik; the rear window is Renolit FlexGlass. German quality on top of Italian style and elegance. What more could a man wish for?
