Hi guys, not sure where all the ranting in this thread came from, i was only asking a couple of questions.. lol
anyways, though id update it with what was wrong with the car...
Well got it home, ran it up again and it was still over heating, so rang the alfa workshop and spoke to Jamie, Jamie was brilliant, and i got the car trailored up to him 2 days later (this was just before Xmas)
Turns out I had bought a lemon, quiet a sick GTV, with a list of problems as long as your arm..
Cylinder head warped (1 was ok)
Base liner seals leaking (water in oil)
Head Gaskets gone
Shot front brakes (Brembos)
Spring pan bushes (both sides)
2 rear sections of the exhaust system shot
Airbox destroyed (big hole in it)
Right.. so I had done;
1 recon cylinder head (both rebuilt)
Base liner seals
Brembos stripped and rebuilt
Front discs resurfaced
New front brake pads
(all done at the Alfaworkshop) at a cost of £2500
since then, ive had done;
Poly spring pan bushes (both sides)
2 Rear exhaust sections replaced
2 new front wheel bearings
2 new anti roll bar links
BMC CDA induction kit
(approx £700 inc labour)
So, in short, as expected, its cost me a fair few quid in the first few months of ownership, but what a fantastic car!!
Jamie did mention when he test drove it that it "felt like a quick one" with good throttle response
Problems im dealing with at the moment however are..
squeeling/sometimes vibrating front brakes
slight leak from the oil cooler (im trying to get hold of some old oil lines, so i can get some new stinless braided lines made up from scratch with stainless steel fittings and use a mocal oil cooler, to avoid the problems you get with the genuine alfa ones)
(anyone got a set of old, buggered lines so i can get a set made??)
