Top mounts

Hi
about to refresh my front suspension, i have sourced most of the parts but seem unable to find a LH top mount despite searching everywhere.
Does anyone know if the top mounts are fitted to any other Alfa/Fiat model.

Called Philip at Alfashop, he has one LH top mount in stock, maybe last in UK !
Decent fella to deal with, so grab it while you can as they are really scarce now
Odd that the left ones are more difficult to source, maybe more weight over that side ?

Very wise. I have just spoken to Partsworld, who deal directly with Italy. The top mounts are no longer in production, and Alfa Romeo have no intention of procuring any more. There is no stock left for the LH bearing (part number 60629998), so once all the retail stocks are gone that's it!

Looks like even reasonable second hand ones will be soon sought after, I'm only doing mine because everything else suspension wise is getting renewed so I thought I might as well do the top mounts while I'm at it.
The days of binning the old parts are gone, if the mounts are reasonable they will go in the shed with the rest of the parts that have been stripped off.
I'm taking a week off work to replace the following with new parts,
Front subframe, shock absorbers, Springs, drop links, track rod ends, top mounts, anti roll bar and subframe brackets.
Front and rear exhaust manifolds, maybe the cat and if time allows replace the cam covers with red detailed powdered coated ones that have been in the loft for a year.
If anyone is interested in the parts I strip off i will post a list of service like bits.

Was looking for one of these just today coincidentally, LH side nowhere to be found.
As someone mentioned above, Alfa is out of stock. On the other hand there's tons of RH ones about! Maybe it's possible to disassemble and use the rubber parts from one of these?

I think 155/145 mounts (and maybe Fiat Coupe) are similar but I'm not sure if they will fit the GTV shock.

I had the same thoughts about converting a RH to LH, I assume you would need access to a pretty beefy press though .
Anyone tried disassembling one ?

SN (sinistra) = left
DN (destra) = right/driver side in UK

145/155/coupe mounts are completely different.

Yes the 155 mounts do look different (and have their own part number) but a few people have seem to have managed to fit them to the GTV:

http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...ml#post4564834 (Help finding Bilstein B6's for GTV V6)

This guy fitted them with 155 shocks. I've also been told by someone else experienced with these things that they've used GTV shocks with 155 mounts (in a GTV).

To me the mounting holes seem to be in be in the right place, but whether you get slightly different geometry when the shock is installed I am not sure. You may end up with a slightly longer or shorter shock/spring assembly.

Not tried all this myself but I'm tempted to get a set of 155 mounts and experiment!

****************
EDIT: 155 mounts DON'T work..they won't fit the GTV shocks. They will only fit 155-type shocks.

If it's possible to do this then it'll be the only way forward for a new one for the LH mount. I visited the dealer yesterday and they confirmed from the coding on the screen that there is no 'back order' for these mounts and none are now available, except for any retail stock available elsewhere.

The RH mount though is still available from the dealer. Partsworld were selling them for £84 but are currently out of stock. However I talked to Partsworld yesterday and they are getting more in at the same price of £84, in contrast to the dealer price of £136.

This is a picture of Nineonesix's GTV with 155 mounts!

Maybe it's an optical illusion in the photo but it looks to me like the physical mounting point for the shock would be slightly higher than standard GTV..

UPDATE: I checked the situation with the inventive chap that put 155 mounts in the GTV in the picture above..he reckons that there's no way the 155 mounts will fit with the standard GTV parts. Disappointingly, it seems the 155 and GTV shocks are significantly different at the top, so these mounts won't fit on GTV shocks.

So don't waste your money on 155 mounts (unless you have 155 shocks & springs to go with them)..

So this begs the question what are we supposed to do if a top mount goes west?

Second-hand parts seem to be the only option if you want to stick with OEM style parts
Unless a stock of new ones turn up somewhere..

Check that the top mount you received is a LH one marked with a letter S !!!!!
Mine arrived Friday and even though the part number marked in tipex states its LH one its a RH one marked with a D

GUTTED !!!
It's not Philips fault at Alfa shop, it was marked up with the correct part number, someone must have mislabeled it.
I hope you received the correct one as their are no-more to be found .
