2 tips for replacing thermostat

Hi I changed my thermostat over the weekend using the how to guide from here and i have 2 tips. 1) there was no way i could use a 13mm ring spanner to get the bottom thermostat bolt undone so if you have a small extention piece on a 13mm socket you can get between the the 2 obstructing pipes and undo the bolt easily.2) The pipes from the thermostat are a complete ***** to get off so i boiled a kettle full of water and poured it over the pipes where they are fitted. this softens the rubber and makes for easier removal. hope these tips help.
