Clicking clutch - spring groove to blame?

So I have the clicking clutch issue, where it clicks when I just start to release the clutch. I've had a good look, tried to grease it but it still makes the click. The issue is that when the clutch is all the way down, the top end of the spring slides down the groove so that when the clutch is released it quickly goes back to its original mounting point, thus making the click.

I have read that cable tieing it can work, and that greasing it can, but I can't seem to get either of these to work although when I tried the cable tie method I couldn't find figure out how to attach it to the spring.

If anybody has a remedy to this, then any help would be very much appreciated!

Figured it was worth a try on here rather than poking around myself.

Many thanks in advance.
