ok so i heard before that if you pour hot water onto rear plastic screen it sorts out the creases. does this work or could it do more damage? my rear screen is looking creased and ugly and need a remedy. any advice greatly appreciated.
No its right gentle heat will straighten out creases, a hair dryer will work too, try to do it evenly but keep the temp just warm to start with then work your way up until the creases go, I certainly wouldnt recoment boiling water. From then on stop the hood when its half open get out and chop the screen so that it folds neatly in half.
I agree with DevonDan....hot, but not over hot hair dryer to get the creases out. However if the plastic screen is old and has had a lot of UV exposure it will not work.
Fogged plastic screens can be polished out with MER car polish which also makes them softer and more pliable. There are also places that will repace just the plastic screen on a soft top.
There is a place just off the M4 that replaces the back window for around 175 pounds! If it really bothers you that much perhaps you should consider getting a new one! Mine is creased and a bit dull but no matter what I do it doesn't really make much of a difference! If you're interested in giving them a call I will grab their details for you.
