EL downpipes, into standard twin cats (possibly gutted, not sure), then a Ragazzon mini-silencer mid section, then a straight through custom end pipe. VROOM ! ("stop that noise") VROOM VROOM!

Aha, hence the rasp. I am going to go the other way with a straight throw centre and silence ragazzon rear.

I just don't have any crackle on the over run, maybe I need to lose the centre silencers?

Sounds bloody epic mate, yours are hanging quite a lot lower than mine. Would love to see the car at some point.

Mines a CF2 so no cats on manifold, then I've got the EL down pipes onto a cat and standard silenced centre with a Ragazzon strait through twin DTM... Not quad just the 2 pipes on the left.
I want crackle etc! Lol

Humm sounds like a last box near the tail pipe might make all the difference to the crackle and rasp. Think I'd like something with the same tone but a little less 'angry' lol.

Crackle is nice - my opinion is that a system with a standard central silencer section and straight through rear, is the best compromise for volume. However, a small central silencer and straight through rear (like mine) is slightly too noisy (IMO) but gives good crackle and a very fruity rasp.
I was planning to replace the Rag centre section with a standard silenced to tame the volume a bit but now I'm not so sure....

It's all good over the standard set up. Good work both of you.

Cheers. I think the picture may be a bit misleading, as the car was parked on a steep slope and I was photographing downhill and also my original springs have sagged several cms, so maybe I should park it on level ground and try measuring the clearance instead.

Yeah thanks - that engine really needs to be heard, its got so much character.
My daily driver is a diesel and sounds like skeletons fighting in a dustbin compared to the Alfa. I have turn up the stereo to forget about the tedious clatter!

I wonder what no silencer and strait through sounds like? Over kill perhaps.
What centre section do you have at the moment... Hate to copy but... It's bloody lovely!

My centre section is a Ragazzon mini silencer pipe which was already on the car when I bought it. I think from Squadra in Netherlands?? Its like a Cherry Bomb - pretty tiny and probably just a pipe with some rockwool in it!

Now we've established these EL pipes are too low for lowered cars.

Do we know where to get good quality OEM spec downpipes from at a reasonable price ?

Not sure about reasonably priced, but quality wise I would think alfaholics would be next up.

There is only cheap rubbish available, or expensive decent quality downpipes such as original Alfa or Alfaholics.

If you still have original Alfa downpipes fitted I would suggest have a competent fabricator weld in some replacement high quality triple layer flexis - thats going to be the only real 'cheap' solution that doesn't impact on quality.

I currently have (new) double layer stainless flexis, and they make kind of a metallic rattle (especially under full throttle). Would switching to triple layer eliminate the rattle?

Yes possibly.. Do you have the bracket fitted which links the two downpipes together? That also helps eliminate rattles.

Yes, the bracket is fitted. Would you know if Wizard is selling stainless three-layer flexis and they do not rattle?

I see Cybox have started listing their EL pipes on eBay.
Reckon I'll be ordering a set of CF3s next week. I'm going to call Jerry because I want to see if they can do me a sports cat as well.

This video of a Cup with straight through ragazzon with no silencer is well known. I think it would be even louder on a CF2. From what I remember reading the guy decided it was too much and put a mini silenced centre section, like UncleJam's, in.

Noisy!

Yeah, unless you live in a really remote location, a straight thru setup is too antisocial! Sounds great yes but everyone will hate you for a 2 mile radius when you drive it. Mine is just about acceptable but I still cringe a bit when I'm gunning it up the hill away from my house - my missis always knows when Im coming home again!

I've conceded defeat and ordered a set of Cybox EL downpipes I'm keen to marry up the amazing exhaust note of the Wizard exhaust with the Equal Length pipes and would only be disappointed if I went with the OEM set up. Just hope the noise isn't any louder as the Wizard exhaust is a touch loud already it's fair to say !

Looks like I'll be driving the long way round now dodging speed humps !!

These are my three favorite sounds on you tube, if I could get my car to sound like this I would be in heaven. As you can hear I don't really go for the 'raspy' sound.
