Judder in 1st and reverse...gearbox mount?
Advice require please guys, 4000 miles ago the car(2.0 GTV) had a new clutch as it was a little juddery in 1st and reverse and always had been in our ownership but when it started to whine the new clutch was fitted including bearing(i presume this means the release bearing)
The clutch is a lot lighter and has no noise at all but still has this judder when using some revs to pull away. High revs on hill starts and the like are fine and pulling away just using the idle revs is smooth on the flat. Also when i drive the car and do a high reving change from 1st to 2nd it sometimes has a clunk on releasing from 1st. From reading other information/posts about symptoms like these it seems to point to an engine/gearbox mount.
While reading up I think the most likely culprit is the gearbox mount(any thoughts?), is this a difficult job to change for an amateur GTV owner/enthusiast? I have just changed the radiator and did a good job and ensured every clip/fixing went back where it should but am a little worried about this job.
If this job is a little complex for an amateur without a ramp(i do have jacks and axle stands) will the small local garage we use be OK to do this or should I seek specialist advice?
Thanks in advance Tom (on behalf of Shelly)
