Twin spark timing and cracked manifold cover?
I've got a 2.0 Twin spark GTV (99') and it's started to sound like an awefull diesel (not cool). So i've taken it to three different mechanics. I was told the three following things:
"You need to replace the variator"
"You need to replace the cam belts and variator"
"You could have a crack in the plastic manifold case, so we need to take it off (2-3 hours) and see if that's the problem"...
It's also started to lose a little bit of low end torque, kicking in at about 3,000 RPM and the power also drops off at around 5,500 RPM...
Any idea's guys? I don't want to have to pay for someone to check the manifold etc out if it doesn't need to be done, as in Australia there is a lack of Alfa specialists and they tend to charge 2-3 times the price of any other mechanic...
Thanks for your help in advance guys.
99' GTV 2.0 TS - Only if it sounds as good as an alfa!!!
